Nonreducing Disaccharides

• Two sugar molecules can be also joined via

a glycosidic bond between two anomeric

carbons • The product has two acetal groups and no

hemiacetals• There are no reducing ends, this is a

nonreducing disaccharide• Examples: Sucrose and Trehalose
