• A single Islamic community

• They are monotheist (believe in on God)

• Their scriptures include Adam, Noah, and Moses
8. What are the foundations of Islam?
• The Qur’an• The Sunnah
9. How do Muslims memorize the Qur’an
• In Arabic• By practicing the 5
pillars of faith
10. What is a Hadith?
• Collections that provide written evidence of Muhammad’s Sunnah (practice) through his own words and deeds
11. What is the first pillar of Islam?
• Shahadah = the declaration of faith
• They must worship one God – called Allah
• Accept that Muhammad is the messenger of God
12. What is the second Pillar of Islam?
• Salat = daily ritual prayer
• They pray 5 times a day• They pray in the
direction of the Kiblah
13. What is a mosque?
• It is Muslim house of worship

• Do a ritual washing of their hands, feet, faces , and arms
