What Chapter Leaders Do
• Set a good example to all members• Learn the responsibilities of the position they
have taken on.• Read the bylaws.• Always do the best you can with the highest
integrity.• Ask for help from the MSC or the Board of
Directors when they need it.

• Meet with the outgoing Executive committee and obtain the files
• Meet with the new Executive committee to create Chapter Challenge Success Plan
• Review all documentation necessary to complete your required tasks well.
• Keep an eye out for the member that would be best to replace you….
Secretary • Benefits- Learn names of all of your members.• Take minutes at the meeting and send them out
to all members within 3 days of the meeting.• Learn to keep good attendance records.
Including excused and unexcused absences. Leave of absence. New members and members who have left the chapter.
• Challenge- being timely, knowing when to report members to your Representative.
How to be successful
• Consistency will allow you to be successful.• Use the same form for taking the minutes at
each meeting. • Use a notebook to keep your weekly minutes
and attendance records.(use the previous secretaries notebook if possible)
• Upgrade your system if you can make it better.

When to report members to Rep.
• If a member has more than 2 absences in a consecutive 3 month period they must be reported to the chapter Rep.
• If a member has more than 8 absences in a year.
• If a potential member has a category conflict with an existing member.
Minutes go out in 2 days
• You may take meeting minutes on a computer and send them out after the meeting.
• You may write down the minutes and type them into a form later and send them out to your chapter within 2 days of the meeting.
You may Include upcoming events and presentation schedules to the minutes.

Chairperson
• Benefits- You are in charge of the meetings.• Members must follow parliamentary procedure
putting you in control of who you allow to speak and when they may speak.
• You preside over all votes and keep the timing of the meeting flowing.
• Challenge- Keeping order during the meeting. Teaching your members to use parliamentary procedure.
Before and during the Meetings
• You will prepare an agenda with a precise time allotment, and send it out a day before the meeting
• Maintain the schedule of presenters and table topics.
• Be able and willing to explain the benefits of membership to current and potential members.
• Check with the secretary about any absences.• Greet all visitors.

• Benefits- Learn communication skills between the chapter and the Board of Representatives.
• You gain skills in negotiations and patients and understanding.
• Analyzing the overall needs of the chapter and decide when to bring issues to the Board of Directors.
• Challenge- Clear understanding of what the WBN represents and how to uphold its values.
Chapter Representative
• You are the link between your chapter and the Board of Directors who make the overriding decisions on behalf of the WBN.
• You will attend the monthly Representative meetings.
• Take good notes and report to your chapter at your next meeting.
• Bring any concerns of your chapter to the Rep meeting.
• Make sure information on the website is current.
Representative and guests
• Officially Greet all visitors and guests.• Have marketing material and applications available
at all meetings.• Be able and willing to explain the benefits of
membership.• Assist new member with applications- overview-
sign-mail into the bookkeeper with a check from the member.
• Mail a letter to any member who is not in good standing with the bylaws of the WBN.
More about Member Applications
• Make sure it is for the current year.• Find an appropriate category for your new
member.• Make sure the writing is legible.• Fill out form with a black pen.• Help new member describe their business.• Sign the application. Get a check and mail it to
the bookkeeper at the current business address.
Representative- more forms
• You are responsible for members deletion forms and change forms.
• If a member choses to leave the chapter or if you must let a member go. Fill out the deletion form.
• If a member changes chapters or categories fill out the change form and mail it to the bookkeeper.
The Rep should stand out.
• You are the first person a potential member sees on the website. (make sure your information including your photo is on the website under your chapter)send to Veronica
• Send member awards to Donna Cheswick for mention in the newsletter.
• Post to the chapter Blog or Facebook page.• Consider becoming a Board Member at the end
of your term.
