Charter Medical have opened a sexual health clinic located in Smitheld.

 This discreet walk-in service oers ull sexual health screens and emergency

contraception 5 days a week Monday to Friday, rom 9 am to 5.30 pm.

Once you arrive at Charter Medical please take the lit to the 3rd foor and ollow

the signs directing you to the ‘Screening Centre’ where our admin team will markyour arrival. You will be looked ater by our sta in a riendly relaxed personalised

setting, while also respecting the integrity and condentiality o each patient.

What Does a Sexual Health Screen involve?

 You will be seen by a doctor or one o our nurse specialists

who will take:

• A urine sample - tested or Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea

• A blood sample - or H.I.V, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Syphilis

Please noteDepending on your symptoms, you may have swabs taken.

Patients are advised not to pass urine or at least 2 hours beore the

screen in order to attain the optimal urine sample or testing.

I you are worried about a particular exposure, and you have NO

symptoms, it is advised to leave 2 weeks beore you are screened.

** If you have ANY symptoms please make an urgent

appointment or walk in during opening times**

Can I get the morning ater pill?

Emergency Contraception is available 5 days a week Monday to Friday

9.00am until 5.30pm

 The morning ater pill (M.A.P.) is a tablet containing a hormone called

progesterone which can prevent pregnancy. It can work up to 72

hours ater unprotected intercourse. The tablet is included in the price

o the consultation (€75.00).This should not be used as a orm o con-

traception and cannot be taken more than once in the same cycle.

Is this service confdential?

 The law guarantees your conidentiality. Your Charter clinical records

cannot be shown to your doctor or insurance companies unless wehave a signed request rom you.

What does a sexual health screen/emergency contraception cost?

 A ull sexual health screen costs €120

Other fees include:

• Results appointment (i necessary) €25

• Review appointment €40

• General consultation (without STI screen) €60

• Cryotherapy session (treatment or genital warts) €60

• Emergency Contraception Consultation €75
