Day 1: Fly to Quito, eat dinnerMeet our tour director at the airport to Quito, the Ecuadorian capital carved into a narrow plateau high above the Andean valleys, beneath the peaks of the Pichincha Volcano. Here you’ll explore the colonial quarter, where wrought iron balconies and majestic stone pillars grace the 300-yr-old plazas, churches, and palaces.

Day 2: Sightseeing of Quito– We will meet the bus for sightseeing of Quito. Our tour director and guide will lead the sightseeing, beginning in the colonial center. They will stop at Plaza Grande, Independence Plaza, the Santo Domingo Monastery, and the Government Palace. We will then transfer to the Intinan Museum where they will see where the real Equator runs and discover how the Incas determined the middle of the earth. We will stand on both hemispheres at the same time! In the early afternoon, the group will have free time and can get lunch on their own. Dinner will be at a local restaurant.

We will wake up early to fly to Baltra (2nd largest of The Galapagos). We will take a a boat ride to the Island of Santa Cruz and arrive at our hotel in Puerto Avora. Lunch will be included and then we will walk to the Charles Darwin Research Station for a visit with the local guide. We will see the national park that protects the flora and fauna that Darwin observed while formulating his theory of evolution. We will see the breeding center for giant toirtoises. Afterwards, we will have free time and dinner at the hotel.

Day 3: Flight to Galapagos

Day 4: Boat excursion to San CristobalWe will depart early to take a boat to San Cristobal, the islands with the true Galapagos wildlife- iguanas, blue-footed boobies, sea lions, and we will stop at Laguna el Junco and Bahia Puerto Chino with a licensed local guide. We will visit the Lobería, a territory of sea lions, and even have a chance to snorkel. A mask and breathing tube will be provided. Lunch will be included and then we will head back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 5: Boat excursion to Floreana IslandWe will head on our boat to another island, Floreana Island. We will take an open country bus with our guide to bring us to a beautiful hiking trail. We will experience the unique nature of the island including the tortoises, more animals, and more snorkeling. We will head back to the hotel in Puerto Ayora for dinner.

Day 6: Flight from Galapagos to QuitoDuring this day, we will depart the Galapagos and head back to mainland Ecuador and fly to Quito. We will visit the Twin Craters with a local guide, passing through the picturesque Scalesia forest. Upon landing back in Quito, we will have a free afternoon and dinner at a local restaurant.**We will also be visiting a school!!

Day 7: Otavalo and CotacachiWe will leave the hotel and begin our journey to the market towns of Otavalo and Cotacachi. These towns are surrounded by the Imbabura, Cotachi and Mojanda volcanoes as well as lagoons. In Otavalo we will have time to explore the market known for its textiles and shop for traditional Otavaleño clothing and goods. We will then transfer to Cotacachi and have lunch. Afterwards, we will visit the leather stores which make this town famous.

Illness and Accident CoverageCoverage of up to $35,000 for hospital bills, doctors’ fees and medical transportation for illnesses or injury while on tour, as well as travel and accommodation expenses for a family member to be with your child while hospitalized in the event of a life-threatening illness. 

Baggage and Property CoverageCoverage for baggage, cash (up to $300), airline tickets, travel documents and valuable property in cases of theft or delay. 

Flight Delay CoverageCoverage up to $200 per day ($400 maximum) for expenses due to flight delays (lodging, food, and other reasonable expenses) as well as a refund for every full land day missed of your tour (2 days maximum) due to flight delays or cancellations.
