CHASE BRIDGE
NEWSLETTER
5th July 2019
The Year 6 takeover!
Updates, Notices and ... News in Brief Absence from school before/after holidays—these
absences will be unauthorised unless you can provide medical
evidence of absence.
Class photos—proofs have gone home today. There is a tight
turnaround so they may not be back before the end of term. Or-
ders need to be returned to school by Friday 12th July.
Medication in school—If your child has medication kept in school
please can you collect it from Ms Gray at the end of term.
Healthcare Plans—these have been sent home to parents to be
checked and signed. Please can they be returned by the end of
term ready for September start. Can I remind all parents that if
your child has a Healthcare Plan and requires emergency medication
(epi-pens, asthma pumps, piriton etc.) please make sure it’s been
dispensed by your GP and labelled in a tupperware box.
Secondary School Fair—This week we had the pleasure of wel-
coming The Green School, Richmond-upon-Thames School and
Twickenham School to Chase Bridge to tell parents and children
about what their schools have to offer in the secondary phase. We
also had lots of information about other local schools available and
it was a good opportunity for families of children in year 5 to start
thinking about school applications for next year – it will roll around
quickly! For more information please click on this link for Richmond
schools and https://www.richmond.gov.uk/

Chase Bridge: working with the police—The school has
been given the opportunity to take part in a project that will be
run jointly between schools and the Metropolitan Police. Oper-
ation Encompass will report to schools, prior to the start of the
next school day, when a child or young person has been ex-
posed to, or involved in, any domestic incident. If there is an
incident Operation Encompass ensures that the school’s safe-
guarding team (Mr King, Mrs Wood, Mr Ostro), is trained to
allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information
that has been shared, in confidence. This will ensure that the
school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experi-
enced by children, or their families, who have been involved in,
or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident.
Library books—please will all children and parents, especially
those in Year 6, have a thorough check of their bookshelves
and bedrooms and return all school library books to school
before the end of term. Children should only have two library
books out at a time. Over the summer holidays, all children are
encouraged to register for the Summer Reading Challenge at
local libraries. They need to read six books and will a receive a
medal and certificate.
Schools Admissions Officers x2—if you know anyone who
might be interested in joining this very happy, supportive and
friendly team based in Kingston. Full time, 36 hours a week.

Mutiny? Not quite, but a much anticipated annual tradition at Chase Bridge is when year 6—for one day only—take over the school. To-
day was the day! Friday 5th July 2019.
The year 6 students each had a role to play as a member of staff in the school. To apply for a role, the children wrote a letter about their
skills and why they should get the job. This year, year 6 have worked very hard to perfect their timetable. They spent three weeks plan-
ning and creating their schedule for their jobs and their day. They’re all very thankful to the teachers who have given them permission to
experience their daily work life. It will hopefully have been a fun and unique experience for all of the students who are able to take part
in this brilliant activity.
