Christmas season. If you are willing to donate yours to the school, please drop them by the school on or before December 22; the earlier the better so that we can get them organized for the big night.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: Hope everyone enjoyed the snow but I am ready for slightly warmer temps! I still have not received grandparent day forms from some families-please let me know asap so we will be ready for the big day! Also, reminders were sent home about the Stephen Fite concert as we need forms and $ returned now or your child will not be able to attend in February, as there are no late tickets available. We are busy singing and making gifts for our grandparents this week while we learn about the first Thanksgiving. Our letter this week is "I". Remember, no school or childcare after Monday next week. Book orders for December were sent home and are due back on Dec. 5th, Show and Tell will be on Th/Fri, the 4th and 5th. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN - Mrs. Kelly: Happy Birthday Addison! Spirit week has been great! Tomorrow is Ugly Sweater Day and Friday is FLS Spirit Day. Thanks for bringing all of the food for chapel offering this month. We won’t have another chapel in November, but you can still bring food and I will make sure it gets to the church. December chapel offering will be for clothes and toys for the Angel Tree children. Our Grandparents' Day is on Monday. We will start in the church at 10:15. Invitations came home last Wednesday. Pre-K will not have school Tuesday-Friday of next week. Tuesday December 2nd will be our trip to Cowley Children's Theater. We will eat lunch at school and plan to leave at 12:00pm. We should be back to school by 3:00pm. We are learning the letter "I" and the number "7" this week. Our Bible words are Love the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 6:5 Have a blessed week and a Happy Thanksgiving!

KINDERGARTEN - Ms. Miller: I still need some field trip forms to our Stephen Fite Concert and they are past due. Please get them to me ASAP (thank you very much)! Next week is Grandparents' Day on Tuesday the 25th in the school gym at 9:30. Lunch tickets cost $5.00 and please RSVP to the office by Thursday the 20th (580-762-9950). If your child's grandparents can't come, please ask an older person to be a substitute. Have an awesome week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Memory for Friday - I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20. The book fair is going on this week and will be open through Grandparents Day. You can buy your grandparent's day lunch tickets in the office. Our field trip to the Cowley Children's Theater is on Tuesday, December 2. Please see reminder note on the trip. November reading logs for Book It are due on Monday, Dec.1. I pray that everyone has a great Thanksgiving and a restful time off from school!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Happy Thanksgiving!! We are very excited to have our grandparents come to school on Tuesday! And then we are looking forward to our Thanksgiving vacation so that we can spend time with family and eat amazing food! The family turkeys turned out beautifully! Thank you so much for your extra efforts. Remember that Book It turkeys are due on Friday. The ones already turned in are great! Thank you for remembering my birthday. I feel loved. Remember that we will be going to the play in Ark City on December 1. I pray that your time of giving thanks will be blessed. Eat too much, rest, and remember to give thanks to God for his abundant gifts!

THIRD GRADE - Mrs. Steichen: SNOW!!! I can not believe it snowed in November. With it being so cold the kids have been playing inside, but please send a coat every day. Between going to P.E., practicing for our play, and lunch, we do travel around in the cold weather. This week: Reading: Finishing up Herbie Jones, test on Monday over the book. To help your child study, just have them retell the book. We have read it in class so I hope it’s an easy test for them. Spelling: Test on Friday. Next test will be after Thanksgiving Break. Science: test on Monday, look for a review sheet. Grandparent's Day: Our play is wonderful and the kids have done a great job! Thank you to all our parents for helping with costumes and going over words. We really appreciate it. I also want to give a huge thank

Page 3: Chatter 11 19 14

you to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson for doing our prop-the refrigerator. Please remember we will be doing a full costume run through on Monday, November 24th at 2:45 in the gym. We cannot wait to show you all!!! Have a great week!!

(Be sure to check out 3rd grade’s animal reports in the display case outside of the school office!) FOURTH GRADE - Mrs. Sibley: The weather is starting to warm up a bit; please remember that winter is here

and to come to school prepared for the weather. Remember that all permission slips and your $1.00 admission are due no later than November 21st. The dollar admission also includes all adults. Book reports are due Monday. Don’t forget your new homemade book with your book report guidance sheet. We are all so excited to host our grandparents next Tuesday. Please continue to think of the things that that God has richly blessed us with, in this season. Keep reading for AR & BOOK IT!

FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: Wasn't the snow that started off our week beautiful? Remember that we go to Roosevelt Elementary for a theater performance tomorrow. We will leave at 12:30 and return by 2:30. Since we will not have another Cardinal Chatter before Thanksgiving I want to take this opportunity to wish each of you a blessed Thanksgiving. Enjoy time with family and friends, and take time to reflect on what an awesome God we have. I truly have so much to be thankful for, and your children are part of my blessings this school year. Thank you for entrusting them to me.

Mrs. Harbeson: Are you feeling thankful? I know I am! I'm thankful for awesome students and parents. I'm

thankful for my coworkers, family, and friends. I'm most thankful for my Lord and Savior who loves me so much that He took the punishment that I deserve so that I can be with Him forever and ever. Thank you, God, for all the good things in our lives and for loving little ol' me! As I write this, I'm thinking about how much I'm looking forward to Grandparents' Day. Grandparents' Day is, by far, my favorite day of the school year. My grandparents were a huge part of my life, and I love them very much. I get to remember and honor them when I meet and talk to your grandparents. We'll see you next Tuesday! As most of you know, I've been traveling to Wichita once a month to participate in a computer class called Tec21. My very first webpage is the result of what I have learned so far! I'm excited to share with you what I have learned, and I plan to use some new technology in my classroom. You can check my webpage out at www.harbolanguage.blogspot.com/. I also have a link in my FastDirect bulletin board if you'd like to access it that way. Please know that it's in the very beginning stages so it's a work in progress! As we finish our last full week of school before Thanksgiving Break, be sure to stay current on assignments. That's it for now...blessings on the rest of your week and have an awesome Thanksgiving Break!

Mrs. Hanson: 6th Grade will be making an Element, Compound, and Mixture Rap Video soon. We will also be testing on Ch.4 This Friday. 7th Grade has started a new chapter. Parents, I need Grandparent pictures by tomorrow, Thursday, November 20. 8th Grade will test Friday.

Cheer: We will have our warm ups by tomorrow. Please get me a check for $70 as soon as you are able. Mrs. Goll: I look forward to meeting all of your grandparent’s next week; make sure that if they plan to join

us for lunch, that they RSVP with the office this week. Mr. Covert: It’s another week here at FLS! Things are moving right along and we’re getting close to

wrapping things up here before we take some time to give thanks for all we have. In 6th grade, we’re finishing up a chapter on the contributions left to us by the ancient Greeks, and that leaves us in a perfect position to move into the rise of Rome after our return. In 7th grade, we’re working through Caribbean South America, and we’ll keep working our way around that continent most likely until Christmas break. In 8th grade, we’re finishing up the American Revolution, which puts us in a good spot for a break, and when we return we’ll talk about the beginnings of our nation.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy with all the bugs going around. God’s blessings on your week!
