T The CHCA Robotics Team will lead this fun week of hands-on activities teaching mechanical design, programming, and teamwork skills. Participants will work in small teams using LEGO Mindstorms, motors, sensors and a computer to program the robot to move and react in order to solve challenges. Students who enjoyed LEGO Robotics camp last summer are welcome to attend again as the robot challenges this year are new and different than last summer’s challenges. Questions? WHAT WE WILL BE DOING: WE WILL BE USING A VARIETY OF MATERIALS THAT ARE BOTH 2 AND 3 DIMENSIONAL TO

MAKE THINGS THAT ARE HIPPIE AND PSYCHEDELIC INSPIRED. COME PREPARED TO PUT ON YOUR RAINBOW

COLORS AND CREATE TIE DYED THINGS, BRAID FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS, MAKE JEWELRY, CREATE HIPPIE BAGS AND MUCH MUCH MORE THAT’S HIPPIE! YOU WILL

LEAVE FROM THE WEEK WITH ITEMS THAT YOU WILL WANT TO USE AND WEAR FOR THE SUMMER. SOME MAY BE

GREAT PIECES TO DECORATE YOUR ROOM. SINCE EACH DAY IS 2 AND ½ HOURS LONG WE WILL BE ABLE TO CREATE

PIECES THAT TAKE TIME AND ARE VERY NICE. WE WILL BE WORKING ON SEVERAL PIECES EACH DAY.

WHAT TO BRING EACH DAY: PLEASE BRING WATER OR A DRINK FOR YOURSELF AS WELL AS ANY SNACKS THAT YOU

2015 BEGINNING BAND WORKSHOP

Mon., July 6–Sat., July 11 2pm–5pm (M-F), Saturday morning concert $175 ($150 early-bird registration before June 1 or with sibling registration)

This fun workshop is geared for rising fifth grade students. Participants will learn the basics of playing their selected band instruments. We will conclude with the students’ very first performance! This is highly recommended for incoming 5th grade band students or new CHCA students who are starting band for the first time. This is a great way to get a step ahead for next year’s Middle School Band and make new friends. (Rental instruments will be available by request at the first session for those who need them).

2015 MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND WORKSHOP

Mon., July 6–Sat., July 11 9am–2pm (M-F), Saturday morning concert $200 (includes lunches; $175 early-bird registration before June 1 or with sibling registration)

Lots of playing! This workshop is designed for advancing, dedicated students. We will focus on playing challenging, fun jazz and pop arrangements and developing the skills necessary to excel on your instrument. The sessions will include rehearsal/instruction time as well as games, contests, and snacks. The workshop will conclude with a concert Saturday morning.

CHCA Summer Strings Camp

Come for a fun week of learning with two simultaneous String camps. Beginning (5th graders or beginners at any grade level) and advanced (5th – 8th graders with previous experience) groups will work on their music separately, but come together for games and snacks. It is a great way for new 5th graders to get to know students at the Middle School! Bring along a friend!

All are welcome!

We are excited to announce our first annual CHCA Eagles Performance Camp. This camp is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of speed, agility, and quickness, while also focusing on injury prevention, proper warm up and form. Our goal as a program will be to introduce our student athletes to performance training, and to lay the ground work for what will be expected of them as they progress through athletics at CHCA and beyond! Dates: June 22nd -‐24th

Time: 9:15am – 10:30am (Grades 4, 5, 6) 10:45 – 12:00pm (Grades 7&8)

Location: CHCA HS Athletic Turf Field

Camp Cost: $100

What to bring: Cleats or good athletic shoes, appropriate athletic attire & plenty of water or sports drinks to stay hydrated

This summer, CHCA will be offering a Strength & Speed program for grades 7 & 8 – “Eagles Performance Training.” This 6 week progression will build strength, speed, agility, and quickness while having a focus on injury prevention, proper warm up and form. The beginning of our workouts will start with strength – using resistance bands, body weight plyometrics and some free weights. Technique and education will be a big part of this. It is important to demonstrate and understand the significance of strength training and the benefit it provides to athletes as their bodies mature. We will finish the sessions with a mix of linear/lateral speed and quickness, foot speed, reaction time and explosiveness. Our goal as a program will be to introduce our student athletes to high level performance training, and to lay the ground work for what will be expected of them as they progress through athletics at CHCA and beyond! Dates: June 29th – July 27th (Mondays & Wednesdays)
