Why a “work Brigade” to Cuba?

• There is no better way to get to know the Cuban people than by working side-by-side with them, sharing meals and leisure time.

• Every year thousands of people from all over the world leave the comfort of their homes to take part in this extraordinary experience.

• Canadians have won a warm spot in the hearts of Cubans since the first Brigade visited in 1992 delivering concrete help to Cuba.

• Hundreds of volunteers from across Canada have visited the beautiful island and its people.

The Brigade’s mandateTo invite the broadest cross-section of Canadians to see and understand Cuba as no tourist can

To give participants the opportunity to find out the reality of Cuba for themselves without misconceptions

To promote cultural and professional exchange between Canada and Cuba

To learn first-hand, and see the achievements of the Cuban Revolution

To understand the heartfelt commitment of the Cuban people in upholding their national sovereignty, self-determination and socialist system

To support Cuba against the US blockade and its negative impact on Cubans as well as on Canadians

Witness the colour and vibrancy of 1 million cheering workers march on May 1st in Havana

The 2016 Brigade will visit Havana, Cienfuegos, Santa Clara, and Varadero

Meet delegates of other International Brigades from over 30 countries

Live in special camps and hotels while carrying out agricultural and community work alongside Cubans (approximately 1/3rd of the trip is volunteer work and there are a variety of tasks to suit a range of physical abilities)

Participate in a full program of activities including visits to social, political and community organizations representing a broad cross-section of Cuban society, such as the women’s federation, labour unions, student organizations, academics, neighbourhood committees and more.

Fun, music, dancing, beaches, culture, history, site seeing and friendships!

An unforgettable Experience
