After she earns her AA degree she hopes to transfer to WSU. Haley grew up around horses and has a passion for them now. She remembers that she attended and hung out with the local 4-H club members before she was even old
enough to join. Haley started coming to the fair entering in open class until she became a 4-H member. She now belongs to the High Lake Riders 4-H Club. In the past Haley has entered steer, swine, goats, and horses. She has received a Grand Campion award for her Pigmy goat, and several Reserve Champion awards for her other animal entries. Haley serves this year as the President of the Wenatchee High School FFA Chapter. Be sure to see Haley’s unique entry at this year’s fair, which will be miniature cows.

Rick has been a lifelong resident of Chelan county living in Chelan during these years. He is a business owner in Chelan and operates Hanson Electric Company. Rick has taken part in the fair since 1977 when he showed his first market hog. In the years following he went on to show both hogs and steers having a Grand Champion steer and a Grand Champion FFA hog.
As a father Rick got his daughters involved in the fair. They started showing hogs in 1997. Since that time Rick has had at least one of his three children showing hogs, lambs, or meat goats. Rick has volunteered his time for the past 15 years on the fairgrounds by setting up and tearing down pens, building gates, and anything else that needed accomplished for fair. During these years Rick has actively supported both 4-H and FFA members not only with his time but with his finances. He is a yearly financial supporter of both the Market Livestock and Fur and Feather Auctions. Rick started serving on the Chelan County Fair Board in 2008. In addition to his commitment to the fair, he has been a Hunter Safety Instructor for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for 20 years, and a member of the board of directors for the NCW Sportsman Club. It is because of his dedication to our fair and the youth of our county that we have chosen Rick Hanson as our 2012 Volunteer of the Year.
The McEdward family has been chosen as our 2012 Family of The Year. Don & Linda McEdward came to the Cashmere area in 1985. Within a few short years Linda had the family involved in participating at the Chelan County Fair.
They organized a 4-H club named Sweet Briar, and that started their children in showing rabbits as 4-H projects. As their interest with rabbits grew so did their commitment to the fair. And in 1991 Linda became the barn superintendant for the rabbit barn. Linda remembers being stacked from top to bottom in the old rabbit barn before the Pavilion was built. In 1994 as the 4-H club grew Don joined as a leader and later their second son helped as a 4-H leader at age 19. Eight years ago Don took on one more responsibility and became a superintendent at the fair, helping in the woodworking exhibits. This love for fair has been passed down to their granddaughter that they are now raising.
Don & Linda started bringing her to the fair while they volunteered when she was just 9 months old. She is now a teenager involved with the same Sweet Briar 4-H club her grandparents started years ago. Don & Linda are very active in their local church, especially Vacation Bible School. The McEdward family has been strong supporters through the years of the local youth activities.
The years that Don & Linda have spent volunteering is evidence that they have a Heart for the Fair.
