2002 protection, deprotection protection, deprotection O 0345 24 - 072 Benzyltriphenylphosphonium Chlorate (BTPPC) as a New and Mild Reagent for Oxidative Deprotection of Trimethylsilyl and Tetrahydropyranyl Ethers of Benzylic Alcohols under Non-aqueous Conditions. Tms- and Thp-protected benzylic alcohols are transformed into the corresponding aldehydes or ketones by application of stoichiometric amounts of the title reagent and catalytic amounts of AlCl 3 in MeCN at reflux or at room temperature.
