The structure of the title compound (II) is determined by single crystal XRD (tetragonal, space group I 42m, Z = 4). The structure consists of cationic [V IV V V O 4 ]n n+ layers with OH - anions and water molecules in the interlayer region. The V–O layers are formed by edge sharing of VO 5 square pyramids along the a and b axes. The compound is further characterized by EPR and TG analysis. Conductivity measurements indicate that (II) is a semiconductor. — (XU, YAN; XU, JI-QING; LIU, YONG-JIANG; Chem. Lett. (1999) 10, 1019-1020; Dep. Chem., Jilin Univ., Changchun 130023, Peop. Rep.
