Chemistry 112.3Section 04Winter Semester 2015
Prof. Ian BurgessOffice Number : Thorv. 256Email : [email protected]
Components of Chem 112
Laboratory : intended for students to learn chemistry from a hands-on approach.
Labs are coordinated by Dr. Alex Bartole-Scott. I do not have anything to do with the labs.
20%
Homework : all done on computer. Submitted electronically. Details to follow. 10%
Midterm : Saturday, February 28th, 10am-noon. 20%
Final : sometime during final exam period. 50%
Your final grade in the course will be assigned based primarily on your overall mark. Note, however, that we will not allow laboratory or homework marks to compensate for failing
examination marks. In addition, if your mark in homework assignments is above the class average, but your mark in
examinations is far below the class average, your homework will be taken into account with a smaller
percentage value as that indicated above. In order to be assigned a passing final grade, you must
fulfill ALL THREE of these conditions: Obtain an overall mark greater than 50%, ANDattend the laboratory regularly and obtain a satisfactory mark therein, ANDachieve a satisfactory performance in the examinations.
