UNIVERSITY INDUSTRY INTERFACE IN CHEMISTRY ‘14
Department of Chemistry Pondicherry University
A one day symposium on recent developments in chemistry and chemical industry
ON 18th February, 2014
ABSTRACT BOOK
DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRYPONDICHERRY UNIVERSITYPONDICHERRY – 605 014
About Us and the Symposium
The Department of Chemistry was established in 1987 and since then has been doing
path-breaking work in the contemporary chemistry research. Major thrust areas of the
Department include Organic Synthesis, Magnetic Resonance, Solid State Chemistry,
Organo-metallic Chemistry and Theoretical Chemistry. The Department offers Post-
graduate programs in Chemistry including M.Sc. (Chemistry, 5yr Integrated), M.Sc.
(Chemical Sciences), M. Phil. (Chemistry) and Ph.D. The Department has been
recognised for special funding by UGC (SAP-DRS) and DST (FIST).
To bring faculty, Ph.D. scholars and post-graduate students on one-side and industry on
the other, the Department is organizing a one-day symposium – UIIC-14. The symposium
will have invited talks and presentations from Ph.D. scholars. Latest trends in chemistry
and chemical industry will be discussed in the symposium.
