We are looking for enthusiastic a nd talented people to join our cast and crew in a v ariety o f roles.Whatever yo ur s kills, you could have something to contribute, so please read on for w hat w e'relooking for.

What's the st ory?Chess tells t he story of a romantic love triangle involving two opponents at t he World ChessChampionship of 1979. The cu rrent world champion, the l oud and brash American, Freddie Trumper,is p laying the quiet b ut charming Anatoly Sergievsky of the Soviet U nion. However, the battle for

victory e xtends w ell beyond the chess b oard, with both men interested in winning the love of thevivacious Fl orence V assey. Cold War tensions running high means t hat b oth nations' political pride i sat stake too, making succe ss even more critical.

The spectacula I Know Him So Well ,but the stunning music f rom Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus ( both of ABBA) and genius l yricsof Tim Rice, excites an d amazes t hroughout t he show. As m oving as i t i s en joyable, Chess is afavourite of audiences worldwide, charmed by the tale of strife for p olitical advantage, love andglory.

Who are we looking for? Fi rstly, performers…

Company singersWe are looking for 16 to 20 singers f or the company o f singers, the vocal ensemble that acts as t heheart and soul of the musical. Chess is he avily d ependent on having a st rong company o f singers t osing the big ensemble numbers t hroughout, as w ell as t o act as b acking for the lead singers i n theirsolo pieces. The m usical is scored so that every m ember of the co mpany w ill have t he ch ance t o singa solo of some sort, should they wish. The role is i deal for somebody confident in singing on stage,but who doesn't wish to commit t o a lead role. If you are at al l curious ab out pe rforming in theshow, we e ncourage y ou to audition, even if you have not performed in a m usical before. It really i sa f antastic cr eative and social experience, so d on't miss out on your opportunity t o get involved.

Company singers m ay be required for r ehearsals f or 2 to 4 hours p er w eek, with more intensiverehearsals in the week of the show. For ho w to audition to be one of our company singers, seeAudition information below.

Principal and Supporting LeadsChess has som e of t he most dem anding, but t hrilling lead roles in the whole musical theatrerepertory. The combination of emotionally complex characters an d technically tough vocal partsmakes Chess the i deal musical to challenge a ccomplished vocalists.

The principal stage for most of the performance. They should expect t o be required for rehearsal for 4 to 6 hoursper week. Supporting l eads have l ess of a com mitment, with p erhaps one s olo son g and someensemble w ork, but they are st ill very d emanding parts r equiring capable si ngers, and rehearsalbetween 3 and 5 ho urs per week.
