FROM THE PRESIDENT After going all winter with very little snow, it looks like we will get our first and hopefully only BIG SNOWSTORM of the season on Tuesday, March 14th. Spring is just around the corner and maybe we can escape the white stuff until we get good weather to enjoy our cars on the road again. At this month’s meeting Pat Gaines and Joe Toner have a program to present about eBay / Craigslist Cautions which should be interesting and informative. In future months I am looking for some help in finding a contact for a speaker on two important topics. First, ethanol gasoline and its effect on our cars. Second, radial tires and their use on OEM tire rims. There are a lot of facts and myths out there regarding both of these subjects and I am looking for some assistance in pointing me in the right direction to get a speaker for each of these topics. We are still looking for an individual or group of people to lead the Christmas Dinner Committee. We can’t wait too long as preparations and reservations must start well before the end of the summer. I would say that if we don’t have volunteers before the end of July we probably will have to forego a Christmas Dinner for the FIRST TIME IN YEARS, or POSSIBLY in CLUB HISTORY. I am looking forward to seeing you at our general membership meeting in March. Russ Swallow – President

COVER CAR – 1920 HUDSON SUPER SIX TOURING CAR

For a Christmas present in 2012 Brigid Parsons gave her husband Brian a ticket to the Barrett Jackson car Auction in Scottsdale Arizona. Her mother-in-law Eleanor Parsons also decided to give Brian’s father, Jerry, a ticket as well to keep Brian company. What a mistake!! The two had so much fun at the auction that they are not allowed to go anymore. They came home with three cars. A 1969 GTO that was owned by Alice Cooper, a Shelby Cobra Kit car, and this 1920 Hudson Touring car that was part of the featured car exhibit at the show. This 1920 Hudson was a Muscle Car in its time because it had a Super-Six 76 horsepower motor which was designed by Hudson for the army tanks of WWI. The huge in-line 6 was so large that Hudson had to beef up the car frame just to handle the weight! At the time the Fords and Chevy had around 25 HP so the 6-cylinder Hudson’s ate them up. It was rumored that many police cars couldn’t catch the Super-Six! In fact, the 1920 Hudson held many speed records for years. Base price of the Touring car was around $2,000. This car is from the west coast and has been part of collections for years. Also, this car has been part of the 2009 and 2010 Mozart Tours traveling 500 miles per rally. So the Parsons are glad to bring this gem back to the east coast and especially Chester County and the CCACC!! You can see this car around the area especially at CTDI’s annual company car show in early September at CTDI’s headquarters in West Chester. CCACC members are welcome to join in the fun and BBQ. Of course bring your cars!!!! Jerry & Eleanor Parsons

MARCH PROGRAM Pat Gaines and Joe Toner will introduce a new advantage for deliveries and E Bay & Craig's List cautions.

REFRESHMENTS Bob Patton brought cinnamon donuts from the fire company and were enjoyed along with cookies brought by Natalie. March Gennie Cassidy will supply goodies. Judi & Tom Deane

A VERY BIG THANK YOU If you read your newsletter or attend the meetings, every month you hear me begging for cars & stories for our monthly newsletter. I ended 2016 with a plea as I had nothing for 2017. Thanks to Mark Cursey whose Corvair appeared on the January cover and Bill Moore with his Dodge Charger on the Feb. cover. Also Bill Moore sent a 2nd car and Audrey Storm, Jerry Parsons and Ed Hilbush will be on future covers. That covers me till June, and then I will be back on my band wagon, however, no excuse, as cars should be out for Spring, so take a picture, write a story and send it to me.

Thanks, Natalie

FOR SALE

If you read your last two or three months of our newsletter for 2016, the For Sale items had gotten out of hand, taking way too much space in the newsletter. We are starting new, so if you have an ad, you will need to send it via e-mail to [email protected] or snail mail: 322 Colonial Drive, Exton, PA, 19341. Ads are going to run for 2 months. Remember the newsletter goes to the same people every month so no reason to run an ad for 6 months. 1929 Dodge: The car was repainted, has Cooper tires, the braking system and transmission were rebuilt, new sleeves were put in the cylinders, the clutch was rebuilt, radiator core, hoses, belts were checked. Battery is fairly new. The car has been garage kept since we purchased it. I am asking $13,000 for the car. Call Betty & Jim Pike: 610-996-5224

THANKS TO CHUCK AND AUDREY STORM FOR THE ARTICLE BELOW 1966 Ford T-5 6TO9T The T-5 was produced for Germany, although they were also shipped to the other European countries. The name Mustang was owned by a German truck manufacturer and because Ford Motor Company didn’t know if any cars would be sold they, they wouldn’t pay $10,000 requested by the truck manufacturer for the Mustang name. T-5 was the development number for the Mustangs. Consider that 607568 Mustangs were built in 1966, there were only 531 T-%’s know to be produced in the Metuchen, New Jersey plant. Carroll Shelby produced 2378 GT350’s in 1966 making the T-5 the most rare of all the standard production Fords. All T-5’s were built with competition suspensions (ala Shelby) because of Europe’s terrible roads. The T-5 was built February 1, 1966 and was special ordered by an Pan Am captain who was based in Berlin. The car stayed in Berlin for 11 years and was shipped home to New York in 1977. After his retirement he moved to Ft. Myers with the T-5. Many things are still coming to light about T-5’s. There were German requirements involved. Rear seat belts – European horns – Red jeweled 4 way flasher switch – Locking gas cap – just to name the most obvious things. As of the April 2012 T-5 Registry, there are only 97 T-5’s listed of which 23 are still in Europe. According to the Registry, this car is the only Fastback in this configuration. There are only 4 – 6 cylinder Fastbacks – 3 are in the USA and 1 is in Europe.

FUN FILLER KEVIN STEVENSON The definition of an antique... While sitting in the kitchen the other day, I started to ponder what is the definition of an antique, so I pulled out the ole reliable Webster. Here's what I came up with it. It said an antique is a treasure from the past. In automobiles any car 25 years or older. A gold coin, even a desk might be, but a car would hardly be considered a treasure. When was the last time a treasure left a puddle of goop under it or better yet broke down on the way someplace? Not to mention bellowed smoke every time you start it up. What I think it should have said is an unreliable old relic that will give you more pain and aggravation than you could ever imagine. Instill an instant headache at will. But also create pleasure and hours of fun for not only the owner but others. Revive memories of the past. Show people you didn't have to have all the modern bells and whistles to get from point a to b. So I guess when you really think about it, it really is a treasure, the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow with a few glitches ...
