New Key Club Year

1

Key Clubbers! Just so you know, the new Key Club year has already begun! New Key Club

years begin with District Convention, thus with District Convention in April, our new year

has begun! Though the end of the school year may be approaching and summer rearing its

head, please don’t stop serving the community. One of the goals our Executive Board has

put for itself this year is to have more events throughout the summer and even some so-

cials! So stay on the look out, keep checking our sites, and most importantly— keep serving!

A Letter from the LTG DCM

This month‟s DCM will be held

at the District Office in Rancho

Cucamonga! It will be the 20th!

And go from 4:30PM– 6:00 PM.

It is encouraged that members

attend as the District Office is a

place that all members should

be familiar with! Hope to see

you there :D

What is a DCM

2 Chino Hills High Key Club Official Newsletter

Some of you might be wondering…”what is a

DCM?”

A DCM is a Divisional Council Meeting, where

all the clubs in the Division gather and report

what they be involved in throughout the month

to the Lieutenant Governor (LTG). They also

hold ice-breakers and workshops which render

our clubs more efficient and smooth-running,

as well as present a way for members and of-

ficers to mingle and meet!

Hello Chino Hills Giraffians!

My name is Jocelyn Sy and I

will be serving as your Lieu-

tenant Governor for 2011-

2012! Many people ask,

“What is a Lieutenant Gov-

ernor?” As your elected

Lieutenant Governor, my re-

sponsibilities can be

summed up to be: Serving

YOU! By “Serving YOU,” I

mean that I act as a liaison

between Key Clubs from

fourteen different clubs in

Division 15. and their respec-

tive Kiwanis Club. When

clubs cannot get in touch

with their Kiwanis for events, I

find ways to repair the situa-

tion. Basically, I find solutions

for fixing any concerns there

may be and provide sources

to strengthen clubs with new

ideas for service/fundraising.

I do this in a variety

of ways, mostly with

the help of my Divi-

sional Assistants, two

of them being from

your home club– Luis

Tenorio & Samantha

Woo. I cannot stress

how awesome you

guys are! Your presi-

dent keeps me up-to

-date with CHHS Key

Club and I have to

say… you guys make

me so proud!

Member(s) of the Month

CHHS Key Club is blesses to have such a large membership, but with such a large

membership there is a lot of competition for hours and to stand out (though we

notice all of you, and love you all!) and so, we have decided to recognize a

member who has done an exceptional job in serving his/her community and be-

ing an exemplary Key Clubber! Though this month, it was extremely difficult to

choose, so we chose two as opposed to one! Congratulations Key Clubbers, and

to those of you who did not win this month, don‟t fret! There are many months

left, so keep on serving! :D

Muhammad

Islam

Josh

LaCour

Both of these members have put

forth their best effort to earn as

many hours as they could this year

and have participated in a variety of

events and activities, even attending

DCMs, regardless of the fact that

they held no office in the club. The-

se members are both lined-up to re-

ceive awards at our Club Banquet

(check page 5) and are members that

have inspired even officers to continue to provide our membership with more opportunities to

serve and work even harder! Thank you both for your hard work and dedication! We hope that

each of you only grow even more as members and as service leaders in the community!

Senior Recognition

Class of 2011!

Class of 2011! Seniors! Four

years. Memories. Service.

Leadership. Character Build-

ing. All part of the High School

experience, and each one of

you have gone above and

beyond to serve your commu-

nity and do all you could to

leave your mark. You have all

rightfully earned what Kiwanis

calls the „Member in Good

Standing‟ status, and have ex-

celed to go on and earn your

stole: more than just fabric, a

symbol of hard work, leader-

ship, and the realization of the

true importance of service.

You have all left your mark

On Chino Hills High and Chino

Hills High School Key Club.

Thank you for your time, dedi-

cation, and efforts. I hope that

your involvement with the Kiwa-

nis Family does not end here,

and that those of you on your

way to college join a Circle K,

and if one isn‟t present at your

school– start one! If you are

headed down a different path,

or even after Circle K, join your

local Kiwanis Club. Take all that

you have learned and experi-

enced in Key Club and contin-

ue to brighten the world and

your future.

Sincerely,

- Key Club 2010-2011 E. Board
