For example 65% said anger was the cause of Child
Abuse
Have someone they can talk to and feel connected to If they don’t feel comfortable they
wont open up about the issue.
Those who were abused talked to people and rated that therapy helped.
Those who didn’t talk to people therapy didn’t help as much
Better parenting skills

They don’t know the difference between discipline and child abuse.
They don’t know any other way of raising a child.
Solutions: Community Organizing Strategies
Addressing Community Needs
Strategy 1: Work with parents/guardians who have anger issues c
Offer free food to attend PTA meetings In these meetings teach how to let out
anger in a non-violent way. Teach techniques on how to control
anger before it gets more serious
Addressing Community Needs
Strategy 2: Have a retreat that focuses on child abuse intervention strategies for councilors/therapists in schools.
Volunteers to tell their story with child abuse
Bring in recent research on child abuse interventions
Volunteers with facilitation experience
Addressing Community Needs
Strategy 3: Hold monthly meetings on how to discipline and raise children.
In the monthly meetings, teach parents/guardians how to discipline their children without physically hurting them.
Have volunteers visit teen pregnancy facilities and give the young future mom’s and dad’s knowledge on raising their child.
