Childrens Literature for Primary Schools

Assignment Details1. STORYTELLING 25% ( 31st October 2014) This is an individual assignment. Choose a story and adapt it to your students level (Year 1- Year 6). Prepare a storytelling session ( 15-20 minutes) with your students.

Videotape the storytelling session and submit via the assignment platform. Language 10 % (suitability, sentence structure, grammar, vocabulary)

Interaction 10 % (suitability & Relevance to the story)

Voice/Intonation/Enunciation 5% Note*- Please refer to the Module on aspects to consider during storytelling.2. LESSON PLAN & MATERIALS PRODUCTION 15% (9th November 2014) Produce a lesson plan on teaching of a grammatical item using Childrens Literature (Poems, Short stories, Nursery Rhymes). The lesson plan should also include all teaching & learning materials pertaining to the lesson.

Please ensure that the materials are ORIGINAL. 0 marks will be awarded for plagiarized work and you will not be allowed to redo your work.

The lesson plan will be assessed as follows:

Materials 5 %

3. ONLINE DISCUSSION -20% ( 16th November 2014) There will be 5 discussion questions posted in the MyGuru3 forum and you will need to give your views on the topics in about 100 words. You also need to respond to 2 of your colleagues comments in about 50 words. The online discussion will be assessed as follows:

2 marks for each view/opinion = 2 x 5 = 10 marks. 1 mark for each respond to colleagues view = 2 x 5 = 10marks

(total = 20 marks) Marks will be given for both Content & Language Please acknowledge/cite any information taken from the website, journals or books. 0 marks for plagiarized responses.
