Family Christmas Day Liturgy

By Jody Seymour

READER 1: The waiting is over. The time has arrived. A child has come

into the darkness to give us light. Each week the light of a candle has

illuminated the path of Advent. Now it is time for new birth and new light.

This day we are all children ready to unwrap Christmas love.

READER 2: Read Luke 2:1-16.

READER 3: Now let’s remember the lights along our Advent path.

CHILD: I light this first candle of Advent. Its name is HOPE.

CHILD: I light this second candle of Advent. Its name is LOVE.

CHILD: I light this third candle of Advent.

Its name is PEACE.

CHILD: I light this fourth candle of Advent.

Its name is JOY.

READER 3: And now it is time for His candle.

In the smile of the baby Jesus we see hope,

love, peace, and joy. It is time for the light

of Christ.
