Dear Readers,Reading a book is a gift that will provide you with the opportunity to grow as a unique person. Reading is a way to learn more about yourself and the world we live in. As a child, I did not always like reading because I never really understood its purpose. I was always told what to read and did what I was told to. I did not realize I had a choice to have an opinion about what I read. Reading can be whatever you want it to be. You can read to learn about new topics. You may want to further your knowledge about current interests. You can escape to new dimensions by reading about futuristic places or dream of visiting worlds of fantasy. I want you to peruse book shelves and find books that look interesting. This is your chance to think about how a book can influence your life. This list of books is for you to get started. I want you to explore and discover where reading may fit into your life. I know you will find topics of interest or a favorite author who will invite you to read more. Let me know what you like or do not like. You are allowed to have your own opinion. If you do or do not like a book, tell me why. Also, let me know if there are books you think I should read. We are all here to learn from each other. So read, enjoy, and share your thoughts!Mrs. Brown*

Diversity Bibliography – Different Kinds of Families

What makes a family? All families are special in their own way. A family is defined as anyone who takes care of someone. This is someone who shows they love you, which even includes your pets. It can mean having one parent, two moms, two dads, a

step-family, or a blended mix. Kids can be raised by other family members or adopted by someone. In 1967, laws were passed so any color could marry. Today everyone has the right to marry the

person of their choice. New laws have been passed so that you can marry someone who is the same or a different gender than

you. This collection of books will help you better understand the definition of a family.
