IntroductionEnergy Cost Calculator for Air Cooled ChillersThis
cost calculator is a screening tool that estimates a product's
lifetime energy cost savings at various efficiency levels.
Maintenance and installation costs do not vary significantly among
the same product having different efficiencies; so, these costs are
not included in this calculator tool.As a screen tool, the results
are only as good as the input provided. Therefore it should not be
considered an accurate calculation of the final operating costs of
the equipment. Rather it gives the user a feel for the savings
derived from choosing one piece of equipment over another.If an
accurate estimation of the energy consumption is required for your
project, you may want to inquire about Xcel Energy's Engineering
Assistance Studies or their Energy Design Assistance programs. Or
talk to the engineer in charge of your design about performing an
energy simulation of your building and its space conditioning
system.Instructions for useStep 1. Enter information on the two
units you are considering for purchase in the HVAC System
tab.Blue/green cells are to be filled in or have a drop down
selection.Step 2. Pick your electric rate on the Electric Rate
tab.Step 3. Pick or develop your own daily and monthly load profile
for your building from the Load Profile tab.Step 4. The spreadsheet
will update the Energy Calculations tab to reflect the inputs you
have provided.Step 5. Go to the Summary tab to see the results.
