Twelve professional teams from nine countries are compet- ing in the Tournament. In the first round of six games, there were three wins and three draws. Participating teams are divided into three groups A, B and C. In the group A game, the former champion, Lijiang Flying Tigers, competed with a team from the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The result was that Lijiang Flying Tigers scored a goal in both halves of the match and won the first game 2:0. In a high-profile match in group C,the Croatian Varaždin team, attending the t ournament for the first time, instead of being hampered by a chance of snowstorm, went all out to show off their strength. Af- ter fierce competition, the Varaždin team beat the Thai Police team 2:1. Hebei Elite Team was matched against Lao Dragon Team, which once trailed 2:0, but eventu- ally equalized. The “Colorful Yun- nan-Belt and Road” Interna- tional Football Tournament is a unique national com- petition created by Yunnan Province making full use of its border location advantag- es. Through several years’ development, the event has become branded as a Yun- nan Provincial event and a boutique tourism competi- tion.Now, it has been regis- tered as an Asian Football Confederation event. Croatian Varaždin Club’s attendance was the first time for a European national professional team to attend such event total of nine countries. R ecently, China’s National Development and Re- form Commission, Ministry of Transport and National Railway Administration and the China Railway Corpo- ration jointly released the 13 th Five-year Development Plan for Railways . It points out that as China makes new ground in pursuing open- ing-up on all fronts with the “Belt and Road” construction as its focus, railways repre- sent an important area and a priority direction for interna- tional cooperation, so China will continue to promote rail- way construction that focuses on the central and western regions and strengthen the construction of railway trans- portation channels in ethnic areas, border areas and im- poverished areas. The Plan proposes to enhance connectivity with surrounding countries. China will implement and advance the “Belt and Road” construction arrangements and the overall plan for infrastructure connectivity with surrounding countries, strengthen international co- operation to jointly promote the construction of backbone railways connecting China with other countries, speed up bilateral and multilateral exploitation of mineral re- sources and tourism resourc- es, promote the construction of cross-border railways and supporting facilities, strengthen cooperation with overseas land hubs and build a secure, smooth, connected and comprehensive transpor- tation network. The Fair lasted three days. Zheng Xiyuan, the Consul General of China in Bombay, attended the opening ceremony, said that China - India econom- ic and trade relations have made great progress in re- cent years and the bilateral trade volume has increased rapidly. “The ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ and the con- struction of the Bangla- desh-China-Indian-My- anmar economic corridor proposed by China, and the ‘Made-in-India’, ‘Digital India’ and ‘Smart Cities’ proposed by India have provided opportunities for deepening cooperation between China and India. There is great potential for cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, information industry, finance, pharma- ceuticals and humanities between the two coun- tries,” said Zheng Yuanxi. The Fair was divided into two themes home and industry exhibitions. There were six large exhi- bition areas for the home theme exhibition including home textile clothing, fur- niture, household appli - ances, building materials, household appliances and lighting. Four exhibition areas for the industry theme included industrial machinery, power new en- ergy, hardware tools, and automobile and motorcycle accessories. Xiaomi Company wants to bring the ecosystem busi- ness model, which is suc- cessful in China, to India. It is expected that various types of services and prod- ucts will be combined into the Xiaomi ecosystem. It is reported that Xiaomi and its sister in- vestment company Shuiwei Capital will invest in about 100 Indian companies, involving fields of digital content, financial tech - nology, exceeding local services (including mobile phone repair and manufac- turing), and they also plan to build a mobile appli- cation ecosystem which will focus on the Xiaomi’s smartphone brand. “In the past four years, Xiaomi has invested more than four billion US dollars in more than 300 companies in China,” said Lei Jun, the company’s president. “In the next five years, Xiaomi Company will invest in In- dian 100 companies. ” Earlier, JaiMani, the product manager of Xiaomi India, said in an interview with Indian media Entrackr that the company has a long-term plan for the In- dian market, so they would probably invest in many oth- er types of products in the future. He said: “In China, Xiaomi is not just a smart- phone manufacturer. It is installed with SOMS, a China-Devel - oped marine system with autonomous learning ability and intelligent operation system. The foundation was laid in December 2015 and it is expected to come into service by the end of December 2021. Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed, the Chi - na-Laos railway is the first international railway which is mainly funded by China and directly connected with China’s railway network. It is a “No. 1 project of great concern to the Lao government. In its current stage, it has directly pulled from local engineering construction, building ma- terials supply, electric pow- er, agriculture and animal husbandry, service industry and logistics. According to prelim- inary statistics, more than 1,500 local workers have been hired for the con- struction, providing a large number of employment op- portunities for people along the railway. T hailand approved the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the first phase of Thailand-Chi- na Railway, paving the way for the start of construction of the first 3.5-km section this month. According to website of Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning, National Environment Board of the office approved a second part of EIA of the first phase of Thailand-China railway dur- ing a meeting on Nov. 30 th after approving the first part earlier this year, which means the EIA of the high-speed project is finally approved. “The next step after the approval of the EIA would be the construction, and we selected Dec. 21st to be the date to begin the work,” said Thai Transport Minister, Arkhom Termpit- tayapaisith during a press conference at the ministry. The first phase of the high-speed project, linking Bangkok and the northeast- ern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, is set to cost about 179 billion baht (5.4 billion U.S. dollars) and would become Thailand’s first high-speed railway. Arkhom also said that Thailand and China had already begun to negoti- ate on the second phase of the project, which will link Nakhon Ratchasima with Nong Khai on Thai- Lao border as the project is set to finally connect with China-Lao railway to form an artery railway from Kunming in southern China to Bangkok. Belt and Road Initiative was proposed, the Chi-na-Laos railway is the first international railway which is mainly funded by China and directly connected with China’s railway network. It is a “No. 1 project of great concern to the Lao government. In its current stage, it has directly pulled f rom local engineer ing construction, building ma-terials supply, electric pow-er, agriculture and animal husbandry, service industry and logistics.

According to prelim-inary statistics, more than 1,500 local workers have been hired for the con-struction, providing a large number of employment op-portunities for people along the railway.

Thailand approved the Environmental Impact

Assessment (EIA) of the first phase of Thailand-Chi-na Railway, paving the way for the start of construction of the first 3.5-km section this month.

According to website of Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning, National Environment Board of the office approved a second part of EIA of the first phase of Thailand-China railway dur-ing a meeting on Nov. 30th after approving the first part earlier this year, which means the EIA of the high-speed project is finally approved.

“The next step after

the approval of the EIA would be the construction, and we selected Dec. 21st to be the date to begin the work,” said Thai Transport

Minister, Arkhom Termpit-tayapaisith during a press conference at the ministry.

The first phase of the high-speed project, linking

Bangkok and the northeast-ern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, is set to cost about 179 billion baht (5.4 billion U.S. dollars) and would become Thailand’s first high-speed railway.

Arkhom also said that Thailand and China had already begun to negoti-ate on the second phase of the project, which will link Nakhon Ratchasima with Nong Khai on Thai-Lao border as the project is set to finally connect with China-Lao railway to form an artery railway from Kunming in southern China to Bangkok.(Adapted from Yunnan Daily and People’s Daily)
