Chinese New year(Lunar New Year)

The Event
• It is called the Chinese or lunar new year because it begins on the first day of the first lunar month.
• It ends on the fifteenth the,” lantern Festival,” and the new years eve is called Chúxī, it literally means,” Year past eve,”.
What to do?
• Before the new year they clean the house to get rid of bad luck and make room for new luck.
• They also have a meal of fish and dumplings.
• On the first day they don’t light fires and don’t eat meat. Then they go and visit all their family
What to do? 2
• On the second day married daughters visit their parent and everyone prays to their ancestors.
• On the third and fourth day they don’t visit family because of bad luck or they go and visit their ancestors graves.
Some celebrating
• On the fifth they eat dumplings.• On the seventh day people get together
and toss raw fish salad around as a type of celebration. Everyone grows one day older on this day.
• On the ninth day people get together and pray to the jade emperor In the sky. While serving tea.

the last day of the Chinese new year and people call this day the lantern festival. People eat sticky rice and light candles outside their homes to guide wayward spirits home. Then they walk the streets carrying lanterns or candles.
