Structural AdaptationsChipmunks

• Backwards feet are a very important adaption for a chipmunk because they climb up and down trees and they might fall if not for the backwards feet.

• Stretchy cheeks is also an adaption of a chipmunk its important because when they need to hide food in their burrows they can carry a lot of food in their cheeks.

• Sharp claws are an adaption that they need them for climbing and reaching nuts.

• Sharp claws are also important for digging burrows to escape predators and store food.

• Chipmunks also have a camouflage coat of fir to blend in and not get eaten by predators.

Behavioral Adaptions

• One behavioral adaption of the chipmunk is they stay out of sight for most of the day. This is an important adaption because they wont get eaten if you cant see them.

• A second behavioral adaption is they look around while eating. This is an important adaption because if they see a predator they have time to run away.

• A third behavioral adaption is they make loud noises. This is an important adaption because they alarm other chipmunks to get to safety.

Habitat

• The chipmunk lives in the rainforest.• It lives in North America and Eastern Asia• They go underground when there's a predator• They shove nuts in mouth to eat later so they

can run and hide in bushes or underground.

Diet• The chipmunk is a herbivore and typically eatsfruits, veggies, nuts, and plants.• They also eat human food, meat, and little

birds, and eggs.• They’ll hide food in underground places to eat

them later in winter when food is scarce.• Chipmunks can eat some human food they

find in trash cans or dumpsters if their regular diet is scarce.
