Shelly Kowalsky is this year's Volunteer of the 2014-2015 School Year at Carlton Oaks School. Shelly plays a very active roll at the school by volunteering in the classroom, being a room parent for several classes, serving as a reading tutor through our Everyone a Reader program, being an Arts Attack docent, and sitting on the PTA. This past year,

Shelly spearheaded our used shoes fundraiser, Shoes for Heart, to raise money toward the school's new performance risers. We are so appreciative of her help and support for this necessary equipment! In addition, Shelly is a PTA membership chair, selling the school's spiritwear, and attending ALL PTA events; helping set-up, serving food to families, and staying late to clean up after the events. Like many amazing volunteers of the year before her, you would assume Shelly is on staff…she is visible on campus every day! Thank you Shelly for all your hard work and service. It goes without saying how very much we appreciate all you do! Congratulations!

It’s so hard to believe that yet another fabulous year is

coming to a close. It has been a year of a few new firsts and also some tried and true traditions, but through it all we have grown closer as the Carlton Oaks family. We so value the many people that help to make our school the successful and thriving place that it is. As we enter into these final days of this school year, we have a few more things to look forward to and to plan for. Please be mindful of these upcoming events and also the importance of having your child at school each day so that they can participate fully right up until the last minute. In these final days this school year we look forward to:

Our 2nd annual Night of the Stars talent show will be Mon., June 1st 8:40 am or 9:40 am in the MPR.

On Tues., June 2nd 8th grade students who participated in this year’s Academic Achievement Competition will be honored at a SSD Board meeting 7 pm, District Office (ERC Board Room).

On Thurs., June 4th we will honor our volunteers at the Volunteer Luncheon held in our MPR from 11:25 am- 1:25

Two safety patrol parties will take place this year. The district celebration event will happen at Santee Lakes on Tues. June 9th from 9:30 am–1:30 pm. The 2nd celebration will be site based taking place in our MPR on Fri., June 12th at 12:20 pm.

Jr High drama performances will be in our MPR on Wed., June 10th 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm, and then again on Thurs., June 11th at 1:30 pm. Families are welcome to attend any show time.

Our 8th grade Disneyland trip is on Fri., June 12, our 7th graders Aquatica trip is on Mon., June 15th, and Tues., June 16th is our 6th grade Boardwalk trip from 10:00 am–1:30 pm. Primary field trips will be announced by their classroom teachers.

Jr. Olympics will be held at Santana HS on Sat., June 13 from 7:30 am-12:00 pm. Awards for this event will take place at the SSD Board meeting on Tues., June 16 at 7:00 pm, District Office ERC Room.

Mon., June 15th, 5th grade students will attend Biz Town

8th grade promotion is on Tues., June 16th at 9:00 am in our amphitheater area. Families are welcome to celebrate with their graduate following the ceremony. 8th grade slide show of this year’s highlights will be on Wed., June 17th at 8:45 am in the MPR.

On Tuesday, June 16th at 9:00 am our 8th grade students will be celebrating their

promotion ceremony. Because we are expecting a lot of extra traffic on this day,

we are asking those that are able, to walk to

school that day as parking will be at a minimum. We appreciate you trying to ride share, walk, or even arrive to school a little

early to help us keep our parking lot flowing as smoothly as possible. Thank you and

Congratulations to all our 8th graders!

Carlton Oaks students displayed some amazing art work at our annual Arts Attack Night

of the Arts. Families were also able to view the art during our raining day lunch on the lawn. Thank you to all the docents who volunteered their time to teach art to our students each month, and help set up the art for the show. If you are interested in becoming an Art Docent for the 2015-2016 school

year, please contact DeAnna Tritthart at (619) 994-8820 or [email protected].

Thank you and have a Wonderful Summer!

Thank you, or as they say in Hawaii Mahalo, to all the Dad’s & Daughters who joined us for the 2015 Father Daughter event. I hope you made memories to last a lifetime. Thank you to everyone who supported us with donations, set up and clean up. Without you these events would not be possible. Thank you also to anyone I might have missed. Your support made this a night to remember!
