It Doesn’t Hurt To Ask Much is repor ted about those who select “no faith” as their religion of choice, but few mine the data to see all that is going on. According to a recent survey, eighty-two percent of Americans who do not go to church, say they would go “if invited by a friend.” Some even suggest that they are hoping someone asks them. Sadly, according to a different survey, only two percent of church-attenders invite anyone to church during the course of any given year.

Is That The NIV? The New International Version, which we’ve used as our standard translation for years, underwent a revision in 2011. CCC’s elders, after studying Bible translation issues, agreed that we prefer to continue using the 1984 version. If you carry a 2011 edition to church, you may hear someone read what sounds almost-but-not-exactly what you’re looking at in your copy of the NIV. The differences are small enough you should have no trouble following either edition.

Convocation2020 The dates for this year ’s missions gathering are September 27- October 4. Things will be a little different this year. Stay tuned for more information.

Library We have a great Library at CCC located just off of the Fellowship Hall. The Library is open every Sunday or you can stop by during the week and the office staff can open it up for you. Most books referenced by Pastor Ken can be found in there along with so much more. The library is constantly updating its selection. Stop by today!

Fish Eyes Coming to our own CAA August 29-30, 2020!

A routine morning in a small fishing town. Two brothers - fishermen who had a poor catch last night. They have no idea their lives are about to change with regard to their fishing and the rest of their lives.

The story of Jesus and the disciples has fascinated us for two thousand years. Fish Eyes is another look at how this God-man affected the world, and specifically, two very human men along the way - Peter and Andrew.

It's humorous, identifiable, simple, moving...and true.

Earl L. Minton Earl L. Minton, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2020, in his Colorado Springs home. The son of the late James and Ione (Sach) Minton was born and raised in Zion, IL. After serving in the U.S. Navy (1944-1947), he graduated from the University of Dubuque (IA) and Fuller Theological Seminary (CA).

Called to Christian ministry, Earl served under Christ Community Church of Zion, IL, and pastored at Zion Gospel Chapel (Michigan City, IN) for five years followed by 10½ years as a missionary in Jamaica, West Indies. Besides overseeing 33 rural churches, he established Rosemount Missionary Church in Montego Bay. When he was able to transfer his responsibilities to a Jamaican pastor, he returned to Zion, IL, to serve in the home church until retirement in 1991. Earl was a joyful and faithful servant of the Lord who also ministered in Guyana (South America), the Philippines, Australia, Japan, and India, preaching in churches and teaching in Bible colleges and seminaries.

Earl was a loving husband for 71 years to Dorothy, the father of three daughters, grandfather of 9, great-grandfather to 16, and a beloved friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his caring family and friends but is surely enjoying the company of those who have gone before.
