From the Pastor’s Desk

This weekend I sadly announce that Jordan Werring, the music director from our English-speaking community, is leaving the parish. Jordan has been with us for the past four years and has contributed greatly to our church. She has generously shared with us her musical gifts and vibrant personality. Jordan is taking a break from music to do a year of volunteer work with AmeriCorps in southern Ohio. We will miss her dearly. Please feel free to send a note to Jordan (via the office) to wish her well. She will be with us at the parish picnic next weekend, giving us a chance to say goodbye then. Speaking of the parish picnic, thank you to those who have volunteered to help with the festivities. And thank you in advance to those who are bringing a side dish to share. I look forward to sampling some of your delicious home-cooked cuisine. Please know that this is one of the events in the life of our parish that brings together our English-speakers and our Spanish-speakers in fellowship. The diversity of our parish is on display when we gather to share this meal and enjoy each other’s company. Time is running out to sign up for our catechesis program. The last day to do so is July 31. I encourage all parents to register their children as soon as possible. I also want to invite any interested adults to join our RCIA program this year. RCIA is for adults who would like to become Catholic or for those who did not received First Communion or Confirmation as children. Parish News

The Bexley Chamber Ensemble will perform a one hour concert this Friday, July 24, at 7:00 p.m. at Christ the King.

The concert will feature Rodolfo Vazquez, a distinguished flutist, whose talents will entertain and delight. There will be no charge to attent, though the ensemble will take up a collection at the conclusion of the concert. The Annual Church picnic will be next Sunday, July 26, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Come and have a great afternoon with your

Christ the King family! The Knights of Columbus will roast a pig and hot dogs will be provided by the Bishop Griffin Center. The Women’s Club will provide paper products. In fact, all the groups at the church will be involved in some manner. We need volunteers to help with this event. We especially need help with set-up on the day of the event at 9:30 a.m. If you are able, please bring your small pop-up tents. We are also asking everyone to bring a covered dish – an appetizer, salad, side dish, or dessert. All parishioners 65 or older are invited to bring hot dog and hamburger buns. Registration for Parish School of Religion (PSR) and the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) will end soon. We ask

that all first through eighth graders of the parish who do not attend a Catholic school participate in PSR. Outside the Parish

As the only Catholic hospice in Central Ohio, Mount Carmel Hospice and Palliative Care Service invites you to join us in serving those who are at the end of their life here on earth. In

the spirit of the Gospel, our volunteers help their neighbors who are in need. Please call 614-234-0200 if you are interested in training to be a hospice volunteer. The next training is in September. (This event is in English.) A Mass of Healing and Healing Service will be held this Monday, July 20, 6:30 p.m., at St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Columbus. Cathedral Rector Fr. Michael Lumpe will

celebrate the Mass; Msgr. Frank Lane will provide the homily. Following the Mass of Healing, a Healing Service will take place, beginning with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Veneration of relics of the True Cross, with each person having the opportunity to speak individually with one of several priests present to discuss their particular situation and receive a prayer of healing; the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will also be available. All persons who seek healing – all physical illnesses and infirmities – are invited, as are family members, caregivers, and medical professionals.
