pastor and works on several special events, including the summer parish picnic. The council meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. From the Pastor’s Desk

There is much to mention this weekend. First, allow me to give an update on the Nehemiah Action that took place last Monday. There were over 2,500 people in attendance, with 52 of our parishioners participating. The highlights were many. Dr. John Stanford from Columbus City Schools was present to commit to further restorative justice practices in our schools; this will lower the number of out of school suspensions and help students understand the consequences of their actions. Lieutenant Matthew Parrish from the Columbus Division of Fire committed to working with BREAD in expanding a social worker program that provides assistance to older adults who frequently call 911. Also, Mr. Joe Mazzola from Franklin County Public Health committed to co-leading a “Life Expectancy Task Force” that will work to reduce the 27 year gap in life expectancy between Columbus city neighborhoods. There is more I could write more about the work of BREAD in our city and our parish’s justice ministry, but I will conclude by thanking all of our parishioners who made the Nehemiah Action a priority and continue to work to remedy social injustices in our city. The Catholic Church throughout the world is celebrating Good Shepherd Sunday. We are also celebrating the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. This is a day to remember that God is calling every Catholic to a particular vocation: priesthood, religious life, married life, or the single life. It is tremendous important to ask God, “What is your plan for my life?” and then to take time to listen in prayer. We have a great need for heroic men and women to embrace their vocations with love and generosity. The renewal of the Church comes through individuals who know that their life is meant to be given away and that their contributions in the Church are essential. My prayer is that Christ the King becomes a “hotbed for vocations,” where young people are open to God’s will and courageous in saying Yes to God’s design for their lives. Please pray with me that Christ the King be a overflowing source of priests, religious sisters, married couples, and single men and women who are on fire for the Lord. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not thank and congratulate all of the mothers in our parish community. On Mother’s Day, we are particularly aware of your love in our lives. You are a blessing to us! May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of our Lord and the Mother of us all, be your example and guide. May the lives of our moms be a reflection of Mary’s extraordinary maternal care. May the Lord bless you throughout the upcoming week.

The office staff wishes our moms a blessed Mother’s Day. Let us

honor and pray for our moms this weekend. Registration for 2019-2020 PSR (Parish School of Religion) and RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) has begun. We ask

that all First through Eighth graders of the parish who do not attend Catholic school participate in PSR. Adults who would like to receive Baptism, First Communion, and/or Confirmation in the Church are strongly encouraged to join the RCIA. Information on PSR and RCIA will be available in the parish office. Children in pre-K through fourth grade are invited to participate in the Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 10:00 a.m. Mass next Sunday, May 19. They will hear the readings and learn about

God’s great love with Mrs. Dunlevy and Ms. Laihr. (This event is in English.)

Desde el Escritorio del Párroco

Hay mucho que mencionar este fin de semana. Primero, una actualización de la Acción Nehemías del lunes pasado. Asistieron más de 2,500 personas, 52 de nuestra parroquia. Hubo muchos aspectos. El Dr. John Stanford de Columbus City Schools estuvo presente para comprometerse con más prácticas de justicia restaurativa en nuestras escuelas; esto reducirá el número de suspensiones de la escuela y ayudará a los estudiantes a comprender las consecuencias de sus acciones. Tenemos una gran necesidad de hombres y mujeres heroicos que acepten sus vocaciones con amor y generosidad. La renovación de la Iglesia se produce a través de individuos que saben que su vida está destinada a ser entregada y que sus contribuciones a la Iglesia son esenciales. Deseo que Christ the King se convierta en una "fuente de vocaciones", donde los jóvenes estén abiertos a la voluntad de Dios y sean valientes al decir Sí al plan de Dios para sus vidas. The Sisters’ Corner

All Saints Academy Catholic School

Congratulations to our students who received their First Communion on May 4. We also want to congratulate our students who received Confirmation on May 8. We’d also like to invite everyone to join us for our Spring Concert.
