The goal is the conversion of heart and mind - a conversion to a way of life that brings peace, justice and love for all. History can so easily repeat itself. Think back on the history of the Israelites. They left the slavery of Egypt, focused on the promise of a new land and a new way of life. They journeyed with enthusiasm and determination; however, something diverted their attention, and as a result they wandered the desert for 40 years. Many, including Moses, never entered the Promised Land. It is so easy to become distracted in our faith journey, as Gods Beloved. So many distractions becoming substitutes for the quality needed for a righteous way of life. I hope we hold each other in prayer that we will be able to focus our way of living by bringing a renewed clarity to our mission as the Community of Christ the Servant within a much larger community - human family. As a faith community we are called to strengthen and develop those habits, attitudes, and behaviors that will enable us to stay single-minded, not losing sight of Gods destination for us. This way of living is so needed in a world fractured by war, hatred, and vio- lence. Our world is in need of repair; and our work as Gods Beloved is to help repair that acre of Gods world entrusted to us and helping to create families and neighborhoods where justice, peace and love provide the foundation for the future. Bishop’s Appeal Last weekend our parish joined with parishes throughout the Diocese of Youngstown in making a commitment to the 2016 Bishop’s Appeal for Catholic Charities and Church. This year’s goal is $4.2 million. The Appeal, in its 20th year, is the pr imary funding source for Catholic Charities in our six-county diocese. There has been an ever-increasing number of needy persons coming to Catholic Charities for help and they depend on our support of the Bishop’s Appeal. The Bishop’s Appeal also helps to subsidize traditional Church ministries including Religious Education, Youth and Young Adult Ministries. Bishop Murry is counting on our support of the 2016 Bishop’s Appeal. It is his fervent hope that every parish will reach their goal. Thank you to those members of our parish who

have responded to the in-mail phase or through the packet. If you are not prepared to make a commitment this weekend, please take some time to read the appeal packet and prayerfully consider how you can best respond with a commitment next weekend. Thank you for

your prayerful reflection and generous response to the Annual Appeal.

Since Lent is a time for prayer, fasting, almsgiving, each class will choose two saints or holy people from its religion text. PAY IT FORWARD THANK YOU We have received several Thank You cards from families that received Christmas gifts from our community. All are very appreciative of your generosity, but one I do share with you. "Thank you for all you have done for our family. This will help brighten our Christmas. Words can't express how much we truly appreciate what you have done for us. One day we hope we will be able to help someone as you have helped us." Please keep all our families in need in your prayer. The generosity of our community in living the corporal works of mercy has always been an inspiration to me. I remember growing up here at OLOP - and from the very beginning of our parish history we were taught to care for those in need. I believe that always grounded us as a community - remem-bering our roots. Lgaetano

From Water into Wine A Young Adult Ministry

By Miguel Chavez Are you looking for an opportunity to meet other young adults and en-rich your faith? Do you enjoy good fellowship, meaningful discussion, and fine food and drink? Consider joining us for the From Water into Wine gatherings this Lent! What is it? From Water into Wine is a young adult faith sharing group that uses the medium of wine tasting and food pairing for fellowship and great discussion. Each week of the program the group gathers in prayer to discuss relevant themes and faith, taste and describe wine with food pairings, and support each other in fellowship. In the second chapter of John’s gospel we learn of Jesus transforming water into wine at the wedding feast at Cana. He took what was ordinary and made it extraor-dinary. In a similar way, young adults are challenged by God’s transformative grace to become like fine wine to serve in the world and imitate Christ in an extraordi-nary way. If you like wine, want to learn more about various wines and share in wonderful fellowship consider joining us!
