American Heritage Dictionary - 2nd College Edition

Our Priorities

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 6:21, Luke 12:34

Our Priorities

1. God - He is our sole purpose for living.

2. Our Family - A cord of three strands is not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12)

3. Our Job - If a man doesn't work, the Bible says he shouldn't eat (II Thesalonians 3:10) Many that will not work are problem causers and busybodies (verse 11)

Our Attitude/Personality

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,

whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if

there be any praise, think on these things

Philippians 4:8

Our Attitude/Personality

Blessed are…the poor in spirit…

they that mourn… the meek…those that hunger and thirst after righteousness… the merciful…

the pure in heart… and the peacemakers...You are the light of the world.

The Beatitudes - Matthew 5:3-9,14

Our Attitude/Personality

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till

seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times:

but, Until seventy times seven.

Matthew 18:21-22

Forgiveness

Our Attitude/Personality

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy

brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother,

and then come and offer thy gift.

Matthew 5:23-24

Forgiveness

Our Attitude/Personality

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Matthew 5:8

Pure in Heart

Our Attitude/Personality

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,

Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for

your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and

all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:31-33

Do not worry

Our Attitude/Personality

Give us this day our daily bread.

Matthew 6:11

Do not worry

Our Attitude/Personality

You can see the speck in your friend's eye, but you don't notice the log in your own eye. How can you say, "My friend, let me take the

speck out of your eye," when you don't see the log in your own eye? You're nothing but show-offs! First, take the log out of your own eye. Then you can see how to take the speck

out of your friend's eye.

Matthew 7:3-5 (CEV)

Self-conscious

Our Attitude/Personality

…each of us must give an account to God for what we do. We must stop

judging others…

Romans 14:12-13 (CEV)

Selfconscious

How We Treat Others

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do

ye even so to them:

The Golden Rule - Matthew 7:12

Considerate

How We Treat Others

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth

not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his

brother also.

I John 4:20-21

Loving

How We Treat Others

This is the first and great commandment. And the second is

like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Matthew 22:38-39

Loving

How We Treat Others

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine

enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully

use you, and persecute you;…For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do

not even the publicans the same?

Matthew 5:43-44, 46

Loving

How We Treat Others

…whosoever would become great among you shall be your minister;

and whosoever would be first among you shall be your servant: even as

the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister...

Matthew 20:26-28

Serving

How We Treat Others

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we

faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all

men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 6:9-10

Summary

Living a life that portrays Biblically based characteristics not only improves our lives,

but it improves everyone else's life around us. It blesses others, the church, the pastor, and

it shows this world what being a true Christian, or being 'Christ like' is all about.
