Course Description Christian University GlobalNet (CUGN) The lectures for Soteriology are offered through Christian University GlobalNet (CUGN) as part of its Master of Arts in Religion degree program. They were initially developed by the Institute of Theological Studies and have been adapted for incorporation into the CUGN library of online research materials. As a student in Core 3 of CUGN’s Master of Arts in Religion degree program, you have selected a particular theological topic to research under the supervision of a seminary professor. In the program, you are able to access and utilize for study and research all courses in the CUGN catalog. Course Objectives Soteriology means different things to different people. Each worldview has its own definition of salvation and its own steps to reach God. But what about Christianity? What does the Bible teach about salvation? Hook explores the Scripture’s teachings on soteriology in order to know how one is saved and to understand the impact of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Students trace God’s saving works through the Old and New Testaments and examine forgiveness, grace, election, faith, and God’s sovereignty in order to formulate a biblically grounded view of soteriology. Upon completion of your study, you should be able to do the following:

• Explain how Christian salvation differs from other soteriologies.

• Understand the Bible’s teaching on salvation.

• Identify the key Scripture references for soteriology.

• Praise God more fully for the salvation provided through His Son.
