THE REAL CHRISTMAS STORY

The Christmas Story- ESV Bible The story is mentioned in the Bible in the book of Mathew. If you would like to read the entire story, please go to a church or search online for Matthew 1:18-2:20. Matthew 1:18 starts out saying, 18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:

23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel”

(which means, God with us). 24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, 25 but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

This is one of the most important days in the history of the world. The Lord came down to earth in order to help bring us back into a personal relationship with Him. It is very simple, Romans 10:9 says, “…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”.

God came down to this earth as a small innocent baby, in order to grow up and one day die for us. Mankind needs the forgiveness and a personal restoration in our relationship with the Lord. So this

act of humility, extreme kindness and unconditional love is one of the greatest love stories ever told. A great and all powerful Being coming to earth as a lowly baby, willing to suffer a painful death to save us from ourselves and from death.

Asking Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior.

God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!
