SUBLIMATIONSCIENCE ON HARD SURFACESYou may have learned in chemistry that sub-limation involves a substance that changes from a gas to a solid without ever becom-ing a liquid. In the hard surface sublimation industry, an image is printed onto transfer paper using dye-based inks and then trans-ferred onto a specially-coated surface with heat and pressure. We manufacture blank products, and you sublimate. If you’ve never heard of sublimation, here’s something you may not know. Getting started sublimating on your own is easy! All you need is a computer, a printer with sublimation inks, transfer paper, a heat press and your Unisub, ChromaLuxe and SwitchCase products.

Choose any picture, illustration or other graphic image. Sublimation is great for any color combination from black and white to full color.

Insert the special sublimation ink cartridges into your printer. Print the image onto sublimation transfer paper designed for hard surface products. Tape the transfer paper to your product.

Position your product on the heat press face up and apply pressure for the appropriate amount of time. Remove the transfer paper from the surface. Enjoy the wow!

SUBSTRATESUniversal Woods coats a variety of hard substrates including aluminum, MDF, hardboard, natural wood and phenolic. As an ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturer, each of our products is manufactured and inspected to ensure the highest quality of sublimatable products in the industry.

ALUMINUMChromaLuxe metal prints in a variety of shapes and sizes, creative borders and murals. Finish: Gloss White, Semi-Gloss White, Matte White, Gloss Clear, Matte Clear Thickness: 1,14 mm / 0.045”

MEDIUM DENSITY FIBERBOARD (MDF)ChromaLuxe and Unisub MDF board is available in two finishes – Gloss White and Semi-Gloss White. MDF can be used for photo panels or signage with a finished black edge. Material: MDF Finish: Gloss White Thickness: 15,8 mm / 0.625” and 12,7 mm / 0.5”Material: MR-MDF Finish: Gloss White, Semi-Gloss WhiteThickness: 19 mm / 0.75”
