One initiative that we offer is a Chrome Free Leather. Our system—wet white tanning—refers to leather with a pale cream or white color. This recently developed method of tanning has been increasing in popularity, partially due to contemporary concerns about environmental impacts.

A wide variety of types of leathers can be produced using the wet white system, including automotive and upholstery leathers.

What is chrome-free?The chromium salt tanning system, which remains the most popular leather tanning procedure, has become the focus of environmental groups, because of its potential environmental impact. The process of creating chrome-tanned leather was invented in 1858, and utilizes chromium sulfate as well as other salts of chromium.

The chromium-free tanning process includes the method steps of pretanning a hide with vegetable or synthetic extracts. This method yields a leather product that possesses characteristics similiar to that of chrome-tanned leather such as superior shrink resistance, resilience and flexural strength —but with a less significant environmental footprint. The process is able to combine comfort and fashion as well as tradition and versatility in one product.

Our chrome-free products:Skyline Is aniline-dyed leather. This style of lightly textured-enhanced grain is designed for unsurpassed durability while filling the need for a more price sensitive application. A supple hand adds to the enrichment always associated with quality leather.

Feather WeightIs aniline-dyed with a lightly textured enhanced grain for optimum cutting yield. Feather Weight Leather is 25% to 35% lighter than standard upholstery leather, resulting in increased payload and potential revenue. Feather Weight is manufactured from the raw state for maximum durability.

EliteDesigned to meet the strict requirements of today’s light jets, Elite is our premium commercial grade leather. Only from premium select steer hides, with a lightly snuffed surface to blend areas of naturally varied grain patterns, with a soft, supple hand that is the essence of a VIP interior.

DuchessOnly from large European hides. The lightest possible finish provides superior performance and still maintains a soft, supple hand found on the finest full grain leathers.
