A blonde lady motorist was about two hours from San Diego when she was flagged down by a man whose truck had broken down. The man walked up to the car and asked, “Are you going to San Diego?” “Sure,” answered the blonde, “do you need a lift?” “Not for me. I’ll be spending the next three hours fixing my truck. My problem is I’ve got two chimpanzees in the back which have to be taken to San Diego Zoo. They’re a bit stressed already so I don’t want to keep them on the road all day. Could you possibly take them to the zoo for me? I’ll give you $100 for your trouble.” “I’d be happy to,” said the blonde. So the two chimpan- zees were ushered into the back seat of the blonde’s car and carefully strapped into their seat belts and off they went. Five hours later, the truck driver was driving through the heart of San Diego when suddenly he was horrified! There was the blonde walking down the street, holding hands with the two chimps, much to the amusement of a big crowd. With a screech o f brakes he pulled off the road and ran over to the blonde. “What are you doing here?” he demanded, “I gave you $100 to take these chimps to the zoo.” “Yes, I know you did said the blonde, but we had money left over so now we’re going to Sea World.” Inside this issue: Chuckles 1 Boat Lockers 1 Abandoned Boats 1 Our Chairman’s Note 2 Have you seen? 2 Harties “Metsi A Me” (My Water) 2 Employee of the Month 3 Harbour Project 3 Security Statistics 3 CHUCKLES BOAT LOCKERS There are still a large number of Boat Lockers that have not been officially registered at the Office. lution of our Memorandum of Incorporation “MOI” to comply with the 2008 Companies Act was de-feated by only 2 votes. The votes cast were 64 in favour of whereas 66 votes of a possible 88 votes were required to achieve a 75% approval for a Special Resolution. The MOI was subsequent-ly unanimously approved at our AGM.

6 July - 48 Con-cerned members request-ed an EGM to oppose ongoing levy increases to subsidize the Sandy Lane Golf Course and to ex-plore alternate options to reduce the cost of main-taining the golf course. The discussions and vot-ing on the above pro-posals were defeated by a majority of members. A positive aspect of the

meeting was the appoint-ment of an Action group of members which would work together to the bene-fit of all home owners to raise funds for the associ-ation.

In addition to the special events recorded in other sections of this news letter, we are delighted to inform you that Prentec has recently upgraded its plant by increasing the aeration capacity in power from 11kw to 18kw, this should go a long way to solve our December vol-umes.

Due to the se-vere cost cutting measures our budgeted staff compliment has been reduced from 37 to 32 members.

The restaurant and the Entertainment

Committee has drawn up a feast of functions and entertainment as highlight-ed in the attached Decem-ber Calendar.

On behalf of the board we thank all mem-bers, Committee Mem-bers, the Estate Manager and his Operational Staff, everybody for all their ef-forts and time willingly given to Estate affairs dur-ing 2013.

In conclusion we wish you all a Merry and Blessed Christmas, good health and success for 2014.

2013 Was a hec-tic year which started with 3 Extraordinary General Meetings:

23 March - The unanimous approval of the Consolidated Income and Operating Budget for CBCHOA and the St James Sporting & Marina Club.

8 June - The approval by Special Reso-

W ent on a fact finding visit to “Metsi a me” offices, next door to Caribbean Beach Club and was astounded and delighted to find the most amazing hive of activity, contrary to all the bad publicity our “green” dam re-

ceives from the media and public alike. It was so encouraging and exciting to hear and see all that has been achieved since 2007. There are so many projects being done within Metsi a me that we have decided to incorporate it into the newsletter every sec-ond month. The Metsi a me project is funded until March 2014, thereafter it will fall un-der the Management of the Department of Water Affairs, but they will still be carrying on with the excellent rehabilitation of Hartbeespoort Dam.

HARBOUR PROJECT

We are currently in the early stages of

liaising and consult-ing with an Engineer

as to the best meth-

od to repair the har-bor berm and retain-

ing walls.

Should this be in your

field of experience and expertise and

you are prepared to assist us in this up-

coming project, we would certainly value

your input.

Please contact Kevin

Nicholson on:

The berm on the south side of the har-

bor, (where the wooden bench is sit-

uated) has deterio-

rated quite badly over the years and is

slowly eroding away under the grass em-

bankment, from the continuous lapping of

the water.

The retaining walls

within the harbor, made up of interlock-

ing block are also starting to subside

and collapse, all of

which are going to have to be repaired

in the near future.

For those of you wondering what security has been up to for the past year, above is a clear indication of exactly how efficient and productive our Security Committee & Security Officers of Fidelity Security Services have been during the period of October 2012 and October 2013. We applaud them on the service we have received and encourage them to keep up the good job during this festive season that lies before us.

valuable contribution to Caribbean beach and St James. These suggestions and observations are then given to the respective committees for action or the Board for Approval especially in light of ex-penditure to ensure good governance.

In light of the complexity of the issues it was decided to look at various issues in various sub committees within the action group. Drawing on each individu-als strength and input.

The 5 Subcommittees were set up as follows.:

1. Finance, Cost control-ling and Auditing

2. Membership of St James and Sandy Lane Golf Club/Utilization and mem-bership figures

3. Restaurant and Restaurant Inte-gration

4. Alternate and additional use Projects

5. Marketing and Fund Raising

Other than trying to make the club more viable the aim is to get the full use out of the area and facilities that ST James has.

Some suggestions would

be a Cross Country Track, Bowling Green, Gym instead of a Squash Court, Fitness Area and Dam water purification project.

But this will all be advised in later news letters...........

Words from the Action Committee

F ormation of our Action Committee

As per the EGM an Action Committee had been formed to investigate what could be done to make the Golf Course more Profitable to ensure that the St James levies did not increase any more due to underutilization of the Golf Course. A Man-date had also been re-ceived from the Board of Director’s giving the Action committee the needed legitimacy.

This committee is working as a consultative forum putting various sugges-tions and observations down and hence making a
