-Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM

….Faith Moving Forward

Thank You Children & Youth

$535.00 raised for our Faith Moving Forward Capital Campaign

On Palm Sunday, some of our parish children presented a Treasure Chest at collection time. This Treasure Chest represented the nickels, dimes and quarters collected dur-ing the weeks leading up to the Capital Campaign in the Faith Formation classrooms and the St. Andrew School classrooms. The children were educated about the pur-pose of the Faith Moving Forward Campaign by the Chil-dren & Youth Team and were then asked to participate by making a sacrifice of their own. What a gift these children are to our parish. As we focus on the future needs of the parish, it is important to treasure the children that also make up the future. It is for our children and those that come after us that we make this sacrifice in our own Faith Moving Forward journey.

Thanks Kids!

Pope Benedict XVI’s Third Encyclical

Pope Benedict XVI’s third encyclical will discuss Catholic social teaching, touching on issues as varied as poverty, peace, wars, international co-operation, energy sources, and globalization. The encyclical will be titled Caritas in Veritate, Love In Truth. Caritas in Veritate will be Pope Benedict’s third encyclical. His first encyclical, Deus Caritas Est, examined the virtue of love while the second, Spe Salvi, focused upon the virtue of hope. The four-chapter encyclical will no longer be pub-lished May 1 as previously planned, but will be delayed so that translations, especially the Chi-nese translation, may be completed. The decision to offer a Chinese version of the encyclical comes at a time when Pope Benedict is seeking to improve relations with the Chinese government. Last June, he sent a letter offering dialogue with Chinese authorities. In September, Chinese priest Father Joseph Li Shan was in-stalled as bishop of Beijing with the approval of the Pope, an event that has not happened in fifty years.
