JON HILL here for PassoverFaculty Advisor to the Portfolio, and incharge of the printing department!

Obviously Mr. Hill is a man of manytalents and he warned us of his Norwegian traits the last time he was here. Mr.Hill is known for his colorful, dramaticand interesting sermons. The brethrenwho heard him here in 1963 look forwardto his visit during the Feast of UnleavenedBread.

Prior to coming in the Church, Mr. Hillgrew up in Quilcine, Washington, in theOlympic Penninsula. He and Dr. CharlesDorothy were childhood buddies. He wasinstrumental in bringing Dr. Dorothy toAmbassador! Mr. Hill went to Ambassador College in 1951 and graduated 4 yearslater. His rise in God's ministry has been

progressive as he began as an assistantmanager and teacher at the ImperialSchool in 1955 and during the feast ofUnleavened Bread, 1957, he was ordaineda Preaching Elder. Immediately he inherited the responsibility of pastoring theDallas and Houston, Texas churches. In1959, Mr. Hill returned to AmbassadorCollege and a year later was assuming afull teaching load. From there he wassent to the Tucson, Arizona Church. Atthe January 1963 ministerial conference,Mr. Hill was ordained a Pastor. This yearat the ministerial conference he was elevated to the rank of Evangelist. Persistance, dedication, and concern for God'speople mingled with laborious hours ofservice will be evident as he brings God'sword to us during the coming sermons.

What you can expect when first meeting this fine lad y is an extraordinaryam ount of happ y enthusiasm wrapped upin her 76 yea rs. She is a source of realinspiration to all those she meets for sheexudes the positiv e joy of ha ving God'struth in a balanced way.

She really took "Tiger hold" whencalled some 5 years ago.

She was reared as an orphan in Denmark. At age 14 she came to this countryto live with her sister.

Not knowing a word of English, shehad a tough time trying to find a job .In due time an oppor tunity opened towork in the kitchen of Miss Dutton's ver yfamou s Ontra Cafeteria on Wabash Ave·nue in Downtown Chicago. She soonspoke English ver y fluentl y. She later, after many years of diligent work, became one of the managers of thi s finerestaurant.

Th ough not yet called into God'sChurch, Mr . Ha yes has joined hi s wifein opening their home to set a remarkable example of hospitality. They seem toha ve a " weakness" for families with lotsof kids , for a large number of churchfolks have enj oyed a fine dinner in theirhome.

For one of the many joys of The Sabbath, take tim e to seek out our Mrs .Hayes for a friendly chat. You will bethe better for it!

LA GRANGE NEWS-LILLIAN FOSTER

Have you all noticed little Susy? She is the precociousii~ 4 year-old niece of Mr. & Mrs. Dale Barclay .• r She is staying with them now. Be prepared• for a delightful conversation when you talk• - to her! • Here's a coincidence-or is it?

God called Mrs. Louise Mercer of Whiting,Indiana and unknown to her, at the same time, her brother and his wife in Nashville, Tennessee were being called into the truth. The

happy outcome? ... They are attending God's Church in Nashville, and it is a pleasure to have Mrs. Mercerattending La Grange here. • It is so niceto have the Bob Marshall family back in LaGrange again. They have been gone since lastSeptember where they have been attending

God's Church in Des Moines, Iowa. A newSpokesman Club was instituted while they werethere and who do you think was made Presi

dent? ... Why, Bob Marshall, of course! The Spokesman Clubtraining he had here helped fit him for thatfine position. • La Grange Church hasbeen remodeled. We now have fine plate glassentrance doors as well as complete decorating. The coat room has been painted and glassbrick installed. We also have a new PA systemwhich helps us hear the speakers better. Thetopping point, of course, was the removal of

the "TRAIN" from the wall behind the speaker. After 5 years-the people were ready for a change from seeing that sametrain that never did get anywhere.

IN ANDAROUNDCHICAGO

CHICAGO-HAZEL SCHLITTMr. & Mrs. John Pruner were in town for a few days visiting

SOUTH SIDE-ESTHERLENE HOLMESKingsley Mather, a native Bahamian, has returned to Harbour

Island after being a member of the South Side Church for thepast eight months. Harbour Island is about sixty miles fromNassau where a new Bible Study was recently started. Mr. Matherhopes to return to the United States on a permanent visa.•Twenty-nine children, together with eleven adults, took advantage of the school break on February 22 to attend a "get together" at the home of Mrs. Lucille Childress in Evanston. Aftera full day of games, singing, and plenty of kosher hot dogsand homemade ice cream, a contented and weary group journeyed back to Chicago. • Mr. Eugene Dumas has caught thevery contagious "Mustang Fever". He has a red one. Watch out,you may be next! • Under the direction of Mr. George Bell, the South Side Church enjoys a weekly program of athleticactivities at the South Shore Y.M.C.A. There's even Whist forthe more sedentary type!

Was the date February 19 circled onyour calendar? It certainly was on mine! This was the date of the social in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Brethren from Duluthas well as North and South Dakota wereinvited to come.

There were 517 gathered together onthe Sabbath in Laidlaw Hall to hear Gods'message expounded. About 40 brethrensat downstairs to hear the message.

After receiving our spiritual food fromthe Sabbath services, everyone partookof physical food by either eating at a resturant, bringing a box lunch, or joiningsome of the local brethren in their nearbyhomes.

Then the festivities began! The colormovie, "Pollyanna," was shown in thehall upstairs, while downstairs there wasmusic provided for dancing by our localorchestra.

Those who made a special effort to attend were not disappointed.

Won't you join us next time?

KINGS Of THE NORTH AND SOUTH MEET

Left to Right: Messers Walker, Underwood, Batson , Bell, Hinson.

Nothing is permanent except change, they say . Change is one of the chief characteristics in all phases of God's work.

A change of officers was effected by theNash ville Sp okesman Club Director, Mr.Bob Stee p, immediately aft er the clubmeeting of Novem ber 18, 1965. Thre emen already serving as officers weremoved up the ladder, while two membersof the club received their first opportunityto serve as officers.

Mr. Harry Walker, after proving himself an able vice president , was mo ved upone notch into the president's chair. Mr.James Underwood, proficient treasurer ofthe club for the past year, was elevatedtwo notches to serve as vice president. Mr.Dainey Batson , energetic sergeant atarms, was appointed as the new secretary .Mr. Paul Bell, who has shown wisdom inmatters of money handling, now servesthe club as treasurer. Th e position ofsergeant at arm s, with its many phy sicalresponsibilities, is now filled by one bearing fru its of that office, Mr. Wi llie Hinson.

Th e appointment of club officers givesus the opportunity to see, FIRST HAND ,God's government in action !

was Evansville's past President, Mr. BillOgden, as Topicmaster. As usual, he provoked enthusiastic comments by askingsuch questions as, " How much do youlove your wife?"

Our Toastmaster of the evening, Mr.George Holt, put us into the atmosphereof a Klondike saloon with his colorf ul andhumorous introductions. Both speakersand evaluators were introduced as pa rt ofthe rough and tough cast.

When the last of the trappers and miners had left, the place was ready for the"mop up" , but it didn't come in the usualmanner. Instead , our Dir ector, Mr. Steep, thanked God for the growth in the twoclubs. He brought out that through Clubslike these, we have had the great growthin Local Elders thi s past year. We haveto learn to be a servant for the right reason, to be willin g to let the "yo u" be takenout of "You" to pr operly receive thi scomplete character of Christ. With ap proximately 3,000 Spokesmen in a worldof nearly three billi on people , we shouldwant to be a pa rt of this !

Hum or and laughter prevailed at the Evansville-Nashville com bined Spokesman mee ting. Caught off balance after taking a generous portion of ground steak, Mr. Jam esUnderwood {with glass in hand} thinks BIG as his wife {below his elbow} expectantlyawaits his answer to the question , "How mu ch do you love your wife? "

56 Spokesmen from the Nashville andEvan sville ar ea, with their lady guests, met in the Ivory Tower Motel Restau rantin Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Th ere wereno decorati ons, yet the festive ai r thatpermeated the banquet hall must havecome fr om the warm fellowship of brethren who had not seen one another sincethe Feast.

Mr. Bob Steep, Dir ector of the twoClubs, opened the evening with a pr ayerof thanks and guidance, after which themeal began. It consisted of salad, groundsteak, baked potatos, green beans , rolls, cherry tarts, coffee and that foamy stuff.Special thanks went to the restaurantmanager and his staff for the speed andeffic iency of serv ing, even though a waitress or two were trapped during the zealous vocal exercises given by MinisterialAssistant, Mr. Ken Matt son. Actin g President for the evening, Mr. Harry Walkerof the Nashville Club , admonished us toenjoy ourselves and to "get acquaintedwith the fellow next to us" who turned outto be a Spokesman's wife or lady guest .Keeping the evening going at a lively pace
