Prayer of Pope Francis for

Protection and Help

O Mary, You always shine on our path as a sign of

salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,

who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.

You…know what we need, and we are sure You

will provide, so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon Himself our suf-

ferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection.

Amen.

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of

those of us who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger,

O Glorious and Blessed Virgin. Amen

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly

The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

(Corpus Christi) June 14, 2020

“Moses said to the people, ‘Remember how for forty years now the Lord, your God, has directed all your journeying in the desert, so as to test you by affliction and find out whether or not it was your intention to keep his commandments…Do not forget the Lord, your God’…’Do this in memory of me.’” Memory is a special gift. It allows us to recall special moments, special occasions and events in family, with friends, at church. The celebration of Sacraments, especially Holy Communion when we meet the Lord for the first time in the Eucharist cer-tainly stands out. On this Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, take time to remember that Jesus Christ is really present for us to feed, nourish and support us on our journey. With many others spend time in ado-ration of Jesus in the Sacrament of His Body and Blood. He is waiting for you. Sadly, when people stop practicing the faith or decide to worship elsewhere, I wonder if they un-derstand that they lost the greatest gift they had, Je-sus in the Eucharist. Pray for them and remind them what we have.

CORPUS CHRISTI FOOD DRIVE 2020 The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted those living in pov-erty the most and Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson's 3 Food Pantries (Father English Center, Paterson; Hope House, Dover; and Partnership for Social Services, Franklin) are giving out more food than ever before. Most months, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson gives out food to 5,000 - 7,000 people at their 3 food pantries. In April of 2020, this number practically doubled, as they helped over 11,000 individuals who are feeling the direct economic impact of COVID-19. Bishop Serratelli has authorized a Catholic Char-ities Diocesan-wide food collection in all parishes. This year, the drive has gone virtual, and you can shop online and have items directly shipped to Catholic Charities Food Pantries. Visit www.ccpaterson.org/corpus for more information and visit www.yougivegoods.com/ccpaterson-fooddrive2020 to find our parish, and shop for our pantries in need. You may also email: [email protected] or call (973) 737-2077 ext.403 with any questions or to donate food directly to Catholic Charities Food Pantries.

The days and months ahead may be inconvenient or may turn out to be really trying. Whatever comes our way, this is a time to prac-tice our faith that we are united as one body in Christ, that we are invited to uphold each other in prayer, and that we are called to be present to

each other either through listening or through reaching out. Weekly envelopes support the Church by assisting in the payment of bills and by keeping our Church fiscally sound. During this time of having to cancel Masses because of the coronavirus, you may drop-off your collection envelopes in the mail slot of the Parish House or mail them to 32 St. James Place, Totowa, 07512. Everyone’s envelopes assist in the health and prosperi-ty of our parish. We thank you for your continued generosity and kind-ness to St. James. Stay safe and healthy!
