A Message From Nikolas
My very dear brethren in Christ:
The time for me to update you on my seminary
status has come. I wish for you to know that, while
this year without academics was for my healing, I
remain unable to resume seminary classes this fall.
Further, rather than spend this next academic year
in a similar manner as this one, I have chosen with
weighty consideration to request myself removed
from seminary altogether. This news has been a
surprise to most and a shock to some, since many
have approved and encouraged me towards Holy
Orders. Please know that I do not mean to exclude
priesthood from my future. I simply need greater
freedom for the moment to focus more on both
physical health and spiritual needs.
For the near future, I plan to live in the St. Cloud
area and continue to work in the diocesan offices. I
will be using this time of prayer and work to wait and
listen for Our Lord to clarify the next step in his will
for me. Especially, I will investigate whether his
vocation of me is characterized by life in a religious
order. I am currently seeking permission from some
communities of monks in Minnesota and Wisconsin
to make visits and discern with them.
Please know that my withdrawal from seminary
is something that I chose with great difficulty and
much deliberation, and despite great incertitude. To
abandon the diocese in this time of great need is not
my desire, and the timing of it all remains a mystery.
I have discovered powerful guidance and
consolation, however, in a specific portion of St.
Paul’s letter to the Philippians. I refer you to verses
4 through 11 of chapter 3 for consideration in your
own situations, also.
What matters to God, whether we are ordained
or not, married or unmarried, destined for old ages
or recipients of an early death, is that we become
holy as God, our Father, is holy (cf. Leviticus 19:2),
by “being found in Christ”. This is the primary duty
of both me and you. Perhaps, in the next few years,
I shall discover that growth in holiness would lead
me back to the seminary, whether for a diocese like
this or for a religious order. But for now and always,
not our wills, but God’s, be done.
God bless you.
Nikolas Zabinski
Please remember all the
students, families, and
school staff in your
prayers as school begins
again!

Anyone is welcome to join us for an afternoon of quilting. We will be
happy to teach you the art of quilting.
Adoration Announcement The Adoration Chapel will be closed on
Labor day and open again on Tuesday at 8 a m.
Invitation to Join Christian Mothers All mothers and women are
invited to join the Assumption Church Christian Mothers! Our mission is
to know and assist each other on the path of holiness with our families
and friends. We host a Christmas Bake Sale on the first weekend in
December to benefit Pro-Life ministries. Deceased members have five
Masses offered for them and a rosary prayed before the funeral. By
reciting the Christian Mothers Daily Prayer, we bring God's special blessing
upon each child at Assumption Parish. To join, please contact Dr. Perry
Burros-Lemke at [email protected].
Extra Garden Veggies/Fruits, Share Sunday On September 8th
we will have “Share Sunday” where you have a chance to share some of
your extra produce. There will be a table set up outside of church for you
to put your extras and after Mass everyone can help themselves. For
other days there will be a table in the entryway for your extras to go to
the food shelf.

Traveling Chalice and Madonna
THE LOVING ENVIRONMENT of a family draws
forth an individual’s greatest talents and gifts. We've
come to realize that creating an atmosphere in which
children can hear the Lord's call is one of the most
significant responsibilities resting on our shoulders as
parents. Our own lives must reflect the presence of
God, His Word, and the love He offers His
people. Blessings to our children as they begin a new
year of school....may you experience new learning,
an understanding and thanksgiving for the amazing
and beautiful gifts provides to know Him and the world
he has given us. Sincere thanks to Marlene Fisher for
hosting the Traveling Chalice and Madonna this week.
May many graces flow for awareness of God's plan
for His children.

RCIA Inquiry Meetings You are cordially invited to
come and learn more about the Catholic Faith. The
"Drop In" Inquiry meetings are for anyone who is
inquiring about becoming Catholic or receiving
Baptism, First Communion, or Confirmation. All are
welcome to "drop in" on Sunday, September 8th at
7:00 PM at the Church of Assumption. There will be a
meeting for inquiring children on Friday, September
13th at 3:00 PM at the Church of the Assumption. To
sign up or for additional information, please contact
Becky Haag through the parish office.
How does our parish attract inquirers each year
who consider becoming Catholic? The short
answer is you! When any parish has many inquirers
year after year, it is the fruit of the Holy Spirit as parish
members open their hearts to welcome others.
Members of a welcoming and evangelizing community
take seriously their call to share the Divine message
of salvation. It happens in parish families, in the
workplace, in gatherings with friends and neighbors,
and in daily contacts. Give thanks to God as He
continuously strengthens each of us who seek to do
His will in offering a gentle, humble, and clear welcome
to the Catholic faith. “Go out into the whole world and
proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)
