Once you start to understand how much God loves you,
you’ll definitely want others to experience it too! Our min-
istries do two things: they show God our love for Him and
they create an environment where others can experience
His love. Everyone can serve in some of these ways:
Say “Hello” to guests. Introduce yourself to folks you
don’t know. Make this a friendly community
If you have children, use the kid's programs. Let your chil-
dren have a great experience and meet other children in
our community.
Visit the Café after Mass and introduce yourself to some-
one you don’t know.
Invite a friend who doesn’t have a church to come and see yours. A personal invitation
is great! Come with them and show them around to make the feel comfortable.
Celebrate with us when a friend starts coming regularly! Send us an email
( [email protected]) and tell us their story!
Your journey from member to minister
Volunteering with Children and Youth Ministries
The Trenton Diocese has mandated that all parishes comply with the “Protecting
God’s Children” Program. Diocesan policy requires background checks for all volun-
teers who have contact with children and young people. Background checks will be
obtained through fingerprint analysis conducted by the New Jersey State Police and
the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A Volunteer Application and Code of Conduct
must also be completed.
All volunteers are required to attend a Virtus “Protecting God’s Children” session.
( virtus.org) If you are an adult or teen over the age of 18 and wish to volunteer you
must comply with the Diocesan “Protecting God’s Children” Program. Please contact
Barbara Sentner at [email protected] for more information.

Ministers of Welcome and Ushers
Our ministers of welcome and ushers ensure that everyone who walks through our
doors is welcomed. Our ministers of welcome serve on special weekends and greet
visitors at the doors. They are the first line of welcoming. Ushers assist visitors at
every mass by greeting, finding seats, gathering the collection baskets, preparing
guests for the Presentation of the Gifts, directing during the reception of commun-
ion and distributing parish bulletins.
Serve: New members are always welcome to these ministries. Ministers of wel-
come can serve as a family or individuals and ushers are needed at every Mass.
Share your gift of welcoming with our visitors.

This ministry provides light refreshments to families and friends of deceased dur-
ing viewing hours before a funeral Mass at Holy Eucharist. This provides us an op-
portunity to demonstrate our care and concern in a tangible way during this diffi-
cult time. Members of the ministry serve on a rotating basis.

Building Bridges
Altar Servers offer service to God and the community by assisting the priest
during Mass. The ministry is open to all adults and youth of the parish who
have made their First Communion and whose parents believe they are ready
and responsible enough to be trained. Training in the specifics of the ministry is
provided throughout the year. Servers are assigned on a rotating schedule.
Altar Servers
This team works behind the scenes to transform our worship space for the liturgi-
cal seasons. We need artists, seamstresses, decorators, and other interested peo-
ple to plan and to work on various projects.
Art and Environment
Building Bridges Ministry seeks to bridge the present with the future and to
welcome all who seek a community of faith to grow in their relationship with
God and one another. Building Bridges invites all the members of our Holy Eu-
charist family to create a special gift of welcome by signing Baptismal mats for
all who come to the waters of Baptism. Signed with prayers, blessings and
words of welcome, we present these mats to our new sisters and brothers in
Christ at their Baptism.

Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of the Lord during the Liturgy. A lector should have a pas-
sion for Scripture, an ability to interpret and understand Scripture, and sufficient public
speaking skills to proclaim the Word to the assembly. Training in the specifics of the
ministry is provided throughout the year. Lectors are assigned on a rotating schedule.
The Music Ministry provides music for all of our weekend liturgies as well as Holy
Days, Weddings, Funerals and other special occasions. The music ministry at Holy
Eucharist currently includes choirs for both adults and children, cantors and instru-
mentalists. Do you have musical talent? Consider sharing your gift with this won-
derful ministry. For more information, contact [email protected]

These ministers clean and press the altar linens and purificators used each week in our
liturgies. This is another invisible, yet essential ministry. The cloths used at the altar in
the Eucharistic celebration are treated with the care and respect due to those items
being used in the preparation and celebration of the sacred mysteries. Accordingly,
guidelines are provided for their cleaning. This ministry is time-flexible and is per-
formed at the parish; ideally this would be on a 6 - 8 week rotation.

A Time to Hope - a Time to Heal . We are called to administer compassion and hope to
anyone grieving and mourning the loss of a loved one through death. We hold sessions
of two hours once a week for eight weeks - one session in the daytime and one in the
evening. The facilitators are trained through a diocesan program. We welcome one
and all, regardless of religious faith. New facilitators always welcome.
Bereavement
Respect Lift
Our goal is to increase the awareness of respect for life issues within the parish as well
as sponsoring activities which seek to uphold the sanctity of life of all people from con-
ception to natural death. Meetings are held about once a month.
HOPE Ministry
The mission of the HOPE Program is to serve our senior parishioners by helping with
as many of the more demanding tasks and trials of their lives as possible. Services
include: transportation, companionship, socialization, respite care, grocery shop-
ping, and telephone reassurance. Volunteers are available in the HOPE office to re-
ceive calls and provide assistance Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 12:00
noon. At other times a message can be left on the answering machine and a volunteer
will return the call the next working day.

Hospital and Homebound ministers bring the Eucharist to hospitals and home, pray
with patients and extend an element of personal caring contact. Hospital manage-
ment requires that all members of this ministry attend training sessions in pastoral
care offered through the hospital. Training sessions update ministers on hospital
policies and issues regarding privacy and security. Visits are made seven days a
week. Volunteers may work as many hours as their schedule allows and may specify
a particular day/days of the week. Schedules are created on a monthly basis.
Members of this ministry meet once a month from 11:00am to noon in the Pope
John XXIII room, usually on the 3rd Thursday of the month to pray, create prayer
shawls, bless them, and prepare the completed shawls for delivery. It is not neces-
sary to attend the meetings to be part of the ministry. If you would like to make and
donate prayer shawls but cannot attend the meetings, your support and participa-
tion are most welcome.

Men of Saint Joseph
There are many causes for homelessness, but there are also many things you can do
to help the homeless. The Interfaith Hospitality Ministry works to help homeless
families by providing meals throughout the year. For over 10 years, Holy Eucharist
has been involved with the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Burlington County.
About every 6 weeks, we partner with the Browns Mills United Methodist Church.
They provide the shelter. We provide the food.

New Lisbon Ministry The New Lisbon Ministry is an outreach effort to bring the message of Jesus to the
lives of those special children of God through caring, compassion and friendship.
New Lisbon ministers extend God's love to this community by bringing the Eucha-
rist to those who are able to receive, praying with others, and sharing with them the
precious gift of time. Ministers visit New Lisbon every Tuesday and when request-
ed. The ministry is open to all who have a little time and a caring and compassion-
ate heart.

Consider doing something extraordinary! Perhaps you are already part of ministry
here at Holy Eucharist or perhaps you have not yet involved yourself in serv-
ing. Would you consider the Next Step? We have a place for you to serve and a role
that only YOU can fill! See what the ministry is like, meet some other people and
ask all the question you want before committing further. We’ll train you and make
you feel comfortable in the role that you choose!
Why should I serve?
You get to serve God in an organized setting. Lots of time, dedication, and prayer goes into ministries that wish to be effective. Like any other organization, they consist of leaders, members, resources, and a vision. Participating in ministry makes you part of a team striving to accomplish the extraordinary, whether serving coffee or leading a group of children in their faith journey.
You serve God and people, bringing your acquired skills, ideas, and ex-periences to the table. The love displayed when you welcome a guest to our church, guide a family in faith formation, or share your musical talents in worship—leaves an indelible mark on hearts of those you serve.
You gain fellowship with others Fellowship is a big deal that few peo-ple purposely choose to live without. Why not get to know the wonderful people in your local faith community ? If you were to ask the #1 way to get to know people in a church, ministry no doubt provides that path.
Check it out: you join a group of dedicated people who joined the same minis-try with intent to use similar skills to pursue a shared goal. You work side by side with them, and most likely will recognize them outside of the ministry or even in your neighborhood. They might have some other like-minded friends who all want to hang out. Before you know it, you’ve fostered a whole new circle of friends! And… If you have brought your decision to serve to God, chances are you are exactly where God wants you to be, when God wants you there.
There are all too many positive reasons to join a ministry. We hope you will prayerfully consider joining us in ministry at Holy Eucharist. Want more in-
formation? Visit holyeucharist.org/ministry-form
