The Effectiveness of God’s Word The Liturgy today highlights the effectiveness of God’s Word in our lives. “My word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it.” So God speaks to us through the prophet Isaiah. Jesus used the parable of the sower to teach about the importance of our cooperation for the Word of God to be effective in our faith, hope, and love. It makes each of us think: What kind of “soil” am I? The Hebrew word for “Word” is dabar. It has the sense of power and creativity and effectiveness built into the Word itself. A good example of this is on the first page of the Bible. God said, “Let there be light, and there was light.” This same kind of effectiveness happens on each day of creation. This sense of dabar is the reason why the Word of God is proclaimed in the Eucharistic assembly. It is up to each of us to realize how God’s Word affects us and has an effect in us. How does the Word of God have an effect in your life? What new seedling does God seem to want to plant within you?

"Mi palabra no volverá a mí vacía, sino hará mi voluntad, alcanzando el fin para el cual la envié." Así que Dios nos habla a través del profeta Isaías. Depende de cada uno de nosotros darnos cuenta de cómo la Palabra de Dios nos afecta y tiene un efecto en nosotros. ¿Cómo tiene efecto la Palabra de Dios en tu vida? ¿Qué semilla nueva parece Dios querer plantar dentro de ti?

Our maintenance staff installed new door sweeps on several doors to help with energy efficiency and pest control.
Emerson IT was onsite for a scheduled outage of the network for annual updates and to make some repairs to a computer.
Lock Guard was out to repair a broken lock; they came out a second time to replace a previously repaired lock.
Staff completed the annual Catholic Mutual safety trainings and submitted the annual PACE-PRISM.
Archer Mechanical was on-site to work on a rooftop AC unit that was having performance issues.
Blaylock was at the rectory to replace a defective sump pump.
Felhaber Larson provided legal review of a proposed tower contract.

Risen Savior Youth Ministry Is Looking for Young Adult Volunteers
Staff is currently working on various forms of curricula, in-person, online/virtual, and a hybrid of both forms, as the COVID-19 situation remains uncertain. In order to provide the best possible programming and ministry experience for our youth, we are currently seeking volunteers, especially young adults, to assist with Youth Ministry. Knights of Columbus
Congratulations to the 2020 Knights of Columbus Scholarship Award winner, Nick Robole! It was a challenge to find a way to connect with Nick during the COVID-19 shutdown, but we were finally able to do so. KC member, Dave Peterson, presented Nick with his Certificate of Scholarship and scholarship check on Sunday, June 28, 2020. Nick is the son of Mike and Vicki Robole; he will be attending the University of Minnesota in the fall. Go Gophers!

KC Scholarship Raffle Winners The Knights of Columbus had their first annual Scholarship Raffle drawing at our meeting on June 23, 2020. As we intended to have the drawing at our Easter Bingo event in March, we appreciate everyone’s patience and support throughout the schedule changes due to COVID-19. We look forward to continuing next year’s raffle as a way of supporting our students as they transition to college. Keep an eye out for more details regarding next year’s raffle! Since the parish pandemic shutdown in March, we have not offered an in-person group experience of Centering Prayer. We continue to wait to resume in-person gatherings but encourage you to continue your practice at home on your own. If you’re not familiar with Centering Prayer, you might find that this method of receptive, silent prayer will bear fruit in other prayer practices you already may have, in your relationships, and in your own sense of well-being and groundedness. Adult Faith Formation
Becoming Catholic: Rite of Christian Initiation. Are you or is someone you know considering becoming Catholic or want to learn more about the Catholic faith? Do you have a friend or relative looking for a “faith home?” Are you an adult Catholic who has not yet been confirmed and/or has not yet received First Eucharist? Do you have a child who hasn’t been baptized or who was baptized in another faith tradition, but would like to live as a Catholic Christian? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (and adapted for children over 7 years old) is the way that the Catholic Church welcomes people into the Church. It is a process in which conversion of the heart brings a person to our Triune God the Father, Son, and Spirit through scripture, learning, discussion, prayer, and community. Visit our Risen Savior website Ministries—Faith Formation—RCIA or contact Grace Koleczek, to begin a process of inquiring as to whether you would like to begin a journey towards full initiation into the Catholic Church.
Celebrating the Sacrament of Baptism Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. At Baptism we receive and celebrate God's free gift of grace and salvation through Jesus Christ. As the first Sacrament of Initiation, Baptism is also the sign of a lifelong relationship with God and with the Church. Due to pandemic safety and sanitation precautions, we are currently scheduling baptisms for Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. with only one family present at a time. When able, we will resume the once per month schedule we had previously. Parents must complete a preparation class prior to their child’s baptism date. Catholic Watchmen: Meeting Virtually Starting this Month!
The Risen Savior Catholic Watchmen is a group of men who gather monthly for prayer, fellowship, formation, and reflection. Starting in July, the Watchmen will be using Bishop Robert Barron’s series The Sacraments, and will be covering one sacrament each month. All men are invited to join! We are currently meeting virtually through Zoom on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Our next meeting will be on July 28 to kick off the series and learn and discuss more about the sacrament of Baptism. ummer Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteer Opportunity at The Open Door Pantry’s Mobile Lunchbox. Last summer, Risen Savior volunteers stepped up every Monday to serve healthy lunches to local children through the Open Door’s Mobile Lunch Box program. This summer, with health and safety precautions in place due to COVID-19, the Open Door modified their method but is still working to make sure children in our communities have a stable food source. The Open Door has set a goal of providing 30,000 lunches and 800 snack packs to children this summer!
There are various ways to serve: as a driver/deliverer, by packing snacks and dropping them off to the donation site, or by donating financially to the Mobile Lunchbox campaign. help us to examine our own hearts, O Lord. God of truth, in your wisdom, enlighten us.
God of love, in your mercy, forgive us. God of hope, in your kindness, heal us.
Creator of all people, in your generosity, guide us. Racism breaks your heart.

Don't you just feel uplifted when you see a snapshot of God's grace in action? I was recently leaving the Church and Poli was helping me transport some things to my car. Our office had just closed but a handful of staff were still inside the building. Some parishioners drove in and asked if we were still open. We said no but asked if we could help. They were here to drop off a donation to our Emergency Fund because they knew that in these times a lot of people were in need. God's grace incarnated; there is a need and we want to respond. Our community is very generous in so many ways and living out our Mission Statement OUR CALL IS TO LOVE AND SERVE. Your bountiful generosity makes a world of difference to so many people. La catequesis del Ministerio Latino de Risen Savior incluye la Escuelita Dominical, Primera Comunión, y dos años de preparación para la Confirmación. Los estudiantes se registran por el grado escolar requerido de los años 2020-2021. Requisitos para Primeras Comuniones, Confirmación y RICA deben entregar acta de nacimiento, certificado de baptismo y primera comunión antes o el día de orientación en Septiembre.

Santificar el Día del Señor: Una Guía Familiar Católica Para Celebrar Una Comunión
Espiritual en Ausencia de la Misa
Antecedentes: Un resultado de la pandemia COVID-19 es que la celebración pública de la misa se ha suspendido en muchas diócesis en los Estados Unidos. Muchos de los fieles, particularmente las familias con hijos en el hogar, desean cumplir con su deber hacia Dios y el Tercer Mandamiento de santificar el Día del Señor, incluso en ausencia de la Misa; pero hay poca orientación sobre cómo o qué hacer.1 Este documento tiene la intención de servir como una guía para que el padre espiritual o la cabeza de la familia mantenga contacto con nuestras antiguas tradiciones litúrgicas en comunión con la Iglesia Católica de todo el mundo actual. Debe quedar claro, especialmente para los niños más pequeños, que esta no es la Misa; está destinada a conectarnos con lo que es familiar de manera paralitúrgica en estas circunstancias extraordinarias. Esta guía fue aprobada para su uso por la USCCB (United States Catholic Conference of Bishops – Conferencia Catolica de los Obispos de los Estados Unidos) en un correo electrónico el 9 de junio de 2020. Nuestro personal de mantenimiento instaló nuevos barridos de puertas en varias puertas para ayudar con la eficiencia energética y el control de plagas.
Emerson IT estuvo en el sitio para una interrupción programada de la red para actualizaciones anuales y para hacer algunas reparaciones en una computadora.

Elementary Faith Formation Coordinator Start Date: Monday, August 3, 2020
I come to Risen Savior with over ten years in child related employment and four years of faith formation and VBS (Vacation Bible School) experience. I am passionate about family faith formation and am excited to come alongside the families at Risen Savior to teach the elementary children about our Catholic faith. I live in Savage with my husband and two young children (soon to be three). In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, planning new house projects and learning new hobbies.

Lori Skare, our current Preschool/Kindergarten/LWC (Liturgy of the Word for Children) and Receptionist/Data Coordinator has decided to pursue a different career avenue at another parish. Due to Lori's departure as of July 31, 2020, we are now seeking to fill the positions of:
Preschool/Kindergarten/LWC (Liturgy of the Word for Children) Coordinator (approx.10 hours/week) and
Receptionist/Data Coordinator (12-16 hours/week).
