MCC Thanksgiving Dinner

We will have our annual Thanksgiving
Dinner on Thursday, November 16th at 6:30 p.m.
This is an opportunity for our church to give back by inviting our Midway friends to come and join us for a meal and entertainment. We are asking
everyone to help out by bringing a dish to share that would serve your family plus 4 others.

Community Thanksgiving Service
Monday, November 20th, 7:00 p.m., Midway Presbyterian Church 103 N Turner Street
Everyone is invited to the Community Thanksgiving
Service on Monday, November 20th at 7:00 pm at Midway Presbyterian Church. Reverend Sam Penwell of Midway United
Methodist Church will deliver the message, and the Midway University Chorale will sing. A special offering will be collected to benefit the Midway
Ministerial Association, to help people in need in our community. Come
and join us as we say “Thanks be to God for all of our blessings” as the community of Midway.

Food for the Soul is a light dinner, open discussion, and a simple communion
service, normally at 6:30 on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month,
in MCC’s Fellowship Hall.
All are welcome!
MCC Choir Retreat
Saturday, November 18th, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. MCC Sanctuary
Current and prospective choir members are asked to attend the annual Choir Retreat on Saturday, November 18th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the sanctuary.
If you’ve thought about joining the choir (even if it’s just for the holidays), this would be the time to check it out!
Food for the Soul
The next three Food for the Soul events will continue the conversations that began with Midway Mayor Grayson Vandegrift’s “Peace in the Park” in August, which was a response to the violent white supremacist rally at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

On this day, we lift up those in our church and in our families who have passed away since
this time last year. If you have not already done so, please send the church office the
names of your loved ones who have passed since November 6, 2016 (please include the
date they passed). The firm deadline for publication will be November 1st.

Community Dinner
Monday, November 27th, 6:30 p.m. MCC Fellowship Hall
Our monthly dinner, held on the last Monday of each
month, is free and open to the public!
November’s dinner will include Rick Caudle’s burgoo,
and Ouita’s sweet potato casserole, cole slaw,
corn bread, and apple crisp for dessert.

Veteran’s Day Service at Midway University
Friday, November 10th, 11 a.m. McManis Student Center
All are invited to come and honor our veterans. The service will begin outside the Student Center and move inside for a cake ceremony.
Unity Outreach: Homeless
Shelter Project of Versailles
Unity Outreach is in need of your tax-deductible donations to start a home-less shelter in Versailles. Homeless people in Ver-sailles are living in their cars, in parks, and “couch-surfing” from house to house. Epiphany Dinner Tickets
Epiphany Dinner is to be held on Saturday, January 6th, 2018
Tickets for the 2018 Epiphany Dinner will go on sale at the end of this month. Don’t wait too long to get yours - this event tends to sell out!
The Epiphany Dinner is an annual tradition, held at the dining hall at Midway University, and fea-tures a medieval menu by Chef Ouita Michel, as well as live music and a festive atmosphere!
Downtown Midway’s Old Fashioned Christmas and Chili Cook-Off
Saturday, November 4th, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Locally Grown (Midway Community Youth Group) is a series of weekly gatherings for
Midway youth, grades 6 through 12, focused on faith development. Locally Grown meets
on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., usually starting at Midway Presbyterian Church and walking

November Mission Payments Daisy Scout Troop #2261
The Girl Scout Mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who
make the world a better place. In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and
power of girls together. (from girlscouts.org website) Daisy Scout Troop #2261, for
girls in kindergarten and first grade, was formed in 2016 and meets at Midway
Christian Church, normally on the first three Mondays of each month during the
school year (with some adjustments for holidays).
Christian Church in Kentucky
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) In Kentucky (CCK) is one of 33 geographic
regions of the Christian Church in the United States and Canada. CCK is nearly 420
ministers, and 30,000 men, women and youth in 224 congregations throughout the
Commonwealth of Kentucky. It is leadership and faith development ministries for women, men, and
youth through camps, retreats and conferences. It is Kentucky Appalachian Ministries and the CCK
West Area. It is our Kentucky partner ministries Cane Ridge Meeting House, Christian Care Communi-
ties, the Kentucky Council of Churches, Lexington Theological Seminary, Midway College and Transyl-
vania University. It is all Kentucky Disciples and their ministries. (from the CCinKY website)

Thanksgiving Offering (for Education)
We will be collecting a special Thanksgiving offering
on November 19th for the Disciples Mission Fund,
to benefit colleges, universities, seminaries, and divinity houses
affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Your
support of this offering will help raise up “servant leaders.”
