Technical Data Sheet issue 02/Oct.11 Cicobond ® EP Slow Set Epoxy Bonding Agent Powerful Protection Description Cicobond ® EP is two component solvent free epoxy bonding agent. Cicobond ® EP has long setting time that allows different repair activities to take place during bonding coating setting time, like anchoring, steel reinforcement and shuttering works. Cicobond ® EP also obtains high bonding strength to concrete, which makes it essential part of any successful structural repair. Uses As a bonding agent for structural repair specially R.C elements upgrading. For bonding old and new concrete. Advantages Provides excellent bonding to concrete. Could be coated over dry and damp surfaces. Provides excellent water resistance. Ideal for hot and tropical climates. Safe when used in closed spaces, as it is solvent free. Provides superior freeze/thaw resistance. Obtains high mechanical characteristics. Packaging 5 and 20 kg set Shelf life & Storage 12 months storage life if stored in its original unopened containers under shaded place in a temperature from 5 o C to 40 o C. Any loose or weak concrete should be removed using hand tools or light mechanical tools (heavy tools are not recommended). It’s recommended to wash the concrete contact surfaces with plenty of water 24 hours before applying Cicobond ® EP. For upgrading concrete structural elements, it’s recommended to roughen the surface to add more mechanical bonding key. Steel substrates All steel surfaces should be blasted or abraded carefully using sandblasting, any mechanical abrasives, or hard steel brush to remove rust. Mixing Stir the base only separately. The entire contents of the smaller can (hardener) could be poured into the base container and the materials should be mixed for at least one minute by mechanical mixer using a slow or medium speed mixing drill. Insufficient mixing may lead to color variation. Application Apply the mixed Cicobond ® EP on the prepared substrate using soft hair brush, making sure that the Cicobond ® EP is tacky when the new concrete, screed or repair mortar is placed. If the overlay time is finished, another coat of Cicobond ® EP must be coated. Cicobond ® EP is applicable to be coated on both dry and damp surfaces. In hot climate, it’s important to check the open time first before applying Cicobond ® EP, because the high temperature of the substrate will reduce the open time of the material obviously. We recommend spraying the concrete surface by water just before coating to help reducing the substrate temperature.

    Description

CicobondEP is two component solvent free

    epoxy bonding agent.

CicobondEP has long setting time that allows

different repair activities to take place during

bonding coating setting time, like anchoring, steel

    reinforcement and shuttering works.

CicobondEP also obtains high bonding strength

to concrete, which makes it essential part of any

    Application Instructions

    Surface preparation

    Concrete substrates

All Concrete Substrates should be sound, clean,

and free from oil and grease. Any loose or weak

concrete should be removed using hand tools or

light mechanical tools (heavy tools are not

recommended). Its recommended to wash the

concrete contact surfaces with plenty of water 24

    hours before applying CicobondEP.

For upgrading concrete structural elements, its

recommended to roughen the surface to add more

    mechanical bonding key.

    Steel substrates

All steel surfaces should be blasted or abraded

    carefully using sandblasting, any mechanical

abrasives, or hard steel brush to remove rust.

    Mixing

Stir the base only separately. The entire contents

of the smaller can (hardener) could be poured into

the base container and the materials should be

mixed for at least one minute by mechanical mixer

using a slow or medium speed mixing drill.

Insufficient mixing may lead to color variation.

    Application Apply the mixed Cicobond

    EP on the prepared

substrate using soft hair brush, making sure that

the CicobondEP is tacky when the new concrete,

screed or repair mortar is placed. If the overlay

time is finished, another coat of CicobondEP

    must be coated.

CicobondEP is applicable to be coated on both

    dry and damp surfaces.

In hot climate, its important to check the open time

first before applying CicobondEP, because the

high temperature of the substrate will reduce the

open time of the material obviously. We

recommend spraying the concrete surface by

water just before coating to help reducing the

    substrate temperature.
