Miss ColombiaIt is an important event that has happened in the city of Cartagena de Indiassince 1934. Its founder was Ernesto Carlos Martelo and its president isRaimundo Angulo.

The parade occurs in mid-November and is transmitted by RCN Network, withspecial broadcasts before the evening crowing moment.

During the crowing evening, the beautiful Colombian candidates walk in threedifferent scenarios; first with their handmade costumes, second with luxuriousgowns, and finally with swimsuits. Later, the jury selects five finalists and theyhave to answer some final questions in order to be chosen as the newColombian queen. The other four queens hold the title of third, second and first princess, second queen of Colombia. Of course, the winner is named MISSCOLOMBIA.

I believe this is a great beauty pageant because Miss Colombia is more than beauty; it is the opportunity to do social work during a whole year.

November 2014 Eleventh Edition

On Friday October 31 we celebrated in SENA Township Giron Santander the closure of Bilingualism Week, dedicated to emphasizing the most popular features of American culture. We recreated Hollywood's Walk of Fame inone of the hallways traveled by CIMI trainees situated between the cafeteria and stationery store. Plus we honored adiverse group of learners for Halloween dressed as memorable personalities and artists representing the same country, the United States.

We paid tribute to the places that everyone knows such as Mount Rushmore, the White House, the flags of the USstates, the twin towers memorial, the Statue of Liberty, Las Vegas, Miami, The Pentagon, famous universities, theGolden Gate Bridge, The Washington Monument, Hollywood, the American dollar, and famous brands as Starbucksand Coca-Cola.

We also could not leave out the cinema, which is why many trainees decided to adapt the role of science fictioncharacters like Jason or the characters in the Saw saga.

We observed several groups representing the music genre of rock that began in the 50s.

There were apprentices who focused on their representative roles at Jason,Freddy Krueger, Slash, Mario and Luigi, Jimmy Neutron, The Simpsons,Marilyn Monroe, basketball players, and other learners represented a rock band from the 80s.

It was an amazing week!
