We are looking to recruit a Cinema Manager to operate the daily running of the cinema and to manage daily cinema screenings.

It would suit someone with experience in a similar environment and with some knowledge of digital projection.

You will ensure the smooth daily running of the cinema, often by yourself; and will you also be responsible for income and service targets and for the administration of the daily film programme and its preparation.

This role will suit someone with a passion for customer service, a love of film and good technical knowledge.

Experience:

Experience in a similar role working in a focused customer service environment

Staff supervision experience at this level.

Good working knowledge of digital cinema projection highly desirable.

Experience in stock management, budget control and cash handling

Knowledge of Health and Safety and access legislation.

Skills:

Charming personable and approachable, capable of talking to customers brilliantly

Organised, calm and tactful, ability to work well under pressure, independently problem solving, quickly and efficiently

Strong communication skills with a positive attitude and obvious drive to serve and manage people

Attention to detail and the highest standards of presentation and service

First Aid qualification desirable, you will be trained if not

responsibilities

Manage all admin relating to film bookings, including the receipt and return of all films from distributors.

Manage the testing of all films before each screening in conjunction with the technical team.

Welcome cinema goers to film screenings and cinema events at Storyhouse

Monitor and enforce BBFC regulations for screenings

Have excellent knowledge of the cinema programme at Storyhouse & to attend regular meetings with the cinema programmer

Through using our ticketing system, book in tickets to films and problem solve when any ticketing issues may arise

Be responsible for the safety and evacuation of customers and be fully conversed with our safety systems

Sell food, drink and other goods to customers, meeting sales targets for upselling.

Be responsible for vending machines and advise/order stock for the machines

Promote and monitor the use of the company’s epos systems and associated technology, for ordering food and beverage to the cinema

Have excellent technical knowledge and willingness to be trained on the projection elements of the cinema operation.

Resolve all problems whilst on duty relating to problems with projection, environment, heating, lighting, and security.

Be a representative of Storyhouse values and solve any problems or questions which may arise about other areas in Storyhouse – to include the Kitchen, Library & Theatre.

Provide assistance to other customer service operations including welcoming customers to other events as required.

Be responsible for checking and resolving cleaning problems including the cinema’s bathroom facilities.

Be a fully trained ticket sales operator and assist customers across the business to access ticket sales.

To work with the film programmer to facilitate Q&As and other programme related items.

To introduce key note speakers at cinema events

To prepare the cinema for screenings and make sure it is clean, tidy and presentable, and clean it after screenings as necessary.

Work with the marketing department to promote the forthcoming film programme especially in the building and be responsible for the timely and accurate display of advertising materials.

Complete banking, manage budgets and stock management.

To be a named first aider for Storyhouse

Full-time, permanent contract, minimum 40 hour per week.

Reports to Customer Service Manager

Salary: £21,000 per annum + 4% contributory pension + performance related bonus up to 10% of salary
