CINEMA & THE CITIES

Now in its third year, Mastercard is proud to be an Official Partner of the Festival de Cannes.

To celebrate this prestigious partnership and to highlight the deep passion people around the world have for Cinema, Mastercard has created the Cinema and the Cities program during the Festival.

Cinema & the Cities brings together a panel of insiders and experts during the Cannes Film Festival to discuss a topic related to film in cities. In 2016, we discussed the role played by cities in cinema and how cities are represented on the big screen. This year we are exploring what makes cinema a priceless experience!

As a partner of consumers daily lives, Mastercard is very attuned to the question of experience.

And among the many priceless entertainment experiences that big cities offer, cinema stands out as a special one.

In support of our discussion, we conducted a study of the general public to find out what going to the the cinema means in 7 different cities.

Celebrating cinema as a cultural and collective passion in priceless cities, that is the essence of Cinema and the Cities!

ABOUT OUR PANEL :A panel of experts will discuss the present and future state of cinema as a cultural outlet, the new forms of cinema experiences that are merging in the city and around the world and create a view on the future state.Nick Vivarelli – Journalist and author - VARIETYStuart Brown – Head of Programme & Acquisitions - BRITISH FILM INSTITUTELisa Nesselson – Film critic - FRANCE 24Rose Beaumont – Senior Vice- President global marketing and communications - MASTERCARD
