THE COMPANY
The story of circoPitanga is, like every story, a unique story. But what characterizes it perhaps
the most is its multicultural background and various influences that give it both a diversified yet
universal composition.
Loïse Haenni and Oren Schreiber, both co-founders of the company, met in the national circus
school in Rio de Janeiro in 2008, during an aerial workshop. After visiting other circus schools in
Bahia they decided to go to Buenos Aires to create a first show “Rêves d’été“ (Summer dreams)
and perform it in Europe the following Summer.
Passionate about acrobatic duos, Loïse and Oren quickly felt the need to expand the
limits of aerial dynamic duo. They worked every winter to develop a specific
technique of on a single attachment point. Thus they lived and took classes in cities
like Barcelona, Turin, Moscow, and Brussels, as well as teaching acrobatics in small
villages where teach masters of acrobatics. In continuous training, they regularly take
courses with professors of national circus schools.
After two years on tour, the show “Rêves d’été“ was reworked for the first time in Turin, under
the artistic direction of MiloeOlivia, and again in Valencia for the stage adaptation with Yevgeni
Mayorga. The show has been running for four years in more than ten European countries.
*CIRCUS*, the last creation of the company, was built in Poland in the winter of 2013-2014 in
collaboration with A3Teatr and WERTEP - International Theatre Festival. In May 2014 they
create their first single performance: “Cordes Nuptiales” an aerial act on a curtain of small ropes.
The influences of styles, techniques and cultural experiences reflect, on the one hand, the
original style of the performances but also -and perhaps especially- the capacity of the actors to
recreate universal emotions through body language in a subtle, poetic and always accessible and
entertaining way.

THE ARTISTS
The « Pitanga » is a Brazilian exotic fruit, a small bomb of taste and vitamins. « circoPitanga », the
name chosen during a stay in Bahia, is the fruit of the meeting of two unusual, determined and
complementary persons.
Loïse Haenni was born near Adelaide in Australia and grew up in the Swiss Alps. Since a small
child her parents encouraged her to not only play with the animals of the farmyard, but also to
practice music (piano, cello) and gymnastics. She received for her 10th birthday a magical gift: a
trampoline - a springboard to dreams and fun!
The pleasure is fleeting, and at age 14 she went to Brig in the Upper
Valais to do her secondary studies at Spiritus Sanctus. With her "Matu"
in the pocket (Swiss equivalent BAC) she went as a humanitarian
volunteer to Peru. At age 20 she began studying Anthropology and
Human Sciences at the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) and
specialised in gender and migration, presenting a thesis in ethnography
on clandestine prostitution of Brazilian transgender in Switzerland.
Loïse decided to start acrobatics only after an additional academic year when she heard of the
existence of circus schools. She went immediately to Buenos Aires and began intensive training
sessions of trampoline and aerial silk. Six months later, she would start at the National Circus
School of Rio de Janeiro in an aerial workshop and will meet Oren.

Of Israeli mother and Polish-Argentine father, Oren Schreiber
was born and raised in Tel Aviv. From a young age he devoted
himself to physical activity, and participated in handball teams
in his college. As a young man, Oren travelled in Asia and
discovered yoga. He took courses in the north of India in the
ashram Omkarananda and continued his training in Israel. It is
from the „Wingate Institute" in Netanya that he graduated as a
senior yoga teacher. He taught for three years in many schools
in Tel Aviv, developing a fun way to introduce yoga to city kids.
He far from suspected that his life would take a decisive turn when he attended a
performance of vertical rope in his own city. Fascinated and hypnotized at the same time,
he decided to make this his career and began classes of aerobatics and acrobalance in
Tel Aviv.
A dedicated yoga past earned him great flexibility and body awareness, two
advantages to becoming an acrobat. Shortly after he went to the school Carampas in
Madrid, he then traveled to the National Circus School in Rio de Janeiro, where he met
Loïse.

SHOWS
circoPitanga presents two shows: "Rêves d’été" (Summer dreams) and *CIRCUS*, both designed to
be performed in a theatre and outside. Although very different in style, the two are silent
and within everyone’s reach.
The shows are performed on an 8m high carbon tripod. Light, autonomous and aesthetic, the
structure is built easily and requires no attachment point, and can thus be built on historical sites,
lawns or indoors. circoPitanga works fully independently providing sound, lights
or complete installation of the set.
Loïse and Oren also give classes of aerobatics and acrobalance in schools, sports
centres and at festivals which wish to engage the public in performance.
***
They organize workshops for children and young people within the school curriculum.
Program: to have fun and learn the basics of acrobatics on an air element (fabric,
rope) and (re)discover balance with an introduction to acrobalance, that is to say
balance with another person. After school, children are entitled to a demonstration in
costumes and music!

YEAR 1920... Louis Cyr, the director of a small
circus no longer knows what to invent
to save the show. His tricks are very
poor, his suit wretched and his
animals have become more and more
rebellious and dangerous.
Furthermore, instead of cooperating
properly, his lovely assistant Miss
Lilly tends to be more a problem than
a help ...
Welcome to the fantastic and chaotic world
of a small independent circus of the 1920s!
*CIRCUS* is a show full of acrobatics,
magic, beads and feathers, but also of
unexpected, tensions and reconciliations ...
An entertaining story about the circus, but,
most of all, an ironic view on human
relationships, on friendship, work and love.
circoPitanga - *CIRCUS* Page 7
* CIRCUS * is a silent film in black and white, a vintage and
glamorous high-flying story, a surreal journey full of fleas, flakes,
acrobatics and surprises ...
The idea of creating a show like *CIRCUS* was born in 2013 during the Wertep Festival, directed
by Darek Skibinski of A3teatr, which takes place every year in small villages in the east of
Poland, 3 km from the Belarusian border. A beautiful place in the world's largest bison nature
reserve, with caring and available people; an ideal place for the creation of a show! We would like
to thank all those who participated in this project and who, through their artistic views and
professionalism participated in the creation of a fresh and fiery spectacle. To be enjoyed alone,
with family or friends!
