Liebert uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems provideadvanced power protection for Cisco Systems equipment.The Liebert IP Telephony Availability System is a completesolution, including power protection, monitoring, and physicalsecurity.

Liebert has a complete range of power, cooling, and monitoringsolutions to support and protect sensitive electronics operatingin virtually any environment. Liebert has brought togethermission-critical power, monitoring, and enclosure technologiesto create an integrated protection system for IP telephonyapplications.

The IP Telephony Availability System

The Liebert IP Telephony Availability system is designed foruse with Cisco IP telephony equipment. It has met the CiscoTechnology Developer Partner Program test criteria forinteroperability with any Cisco router or switch running CiscoCallManager Express or Cisco Unity Express. It accommodatesall stackable Cisco switches and routers, including Cisco 1800,2800, and 3800 Series integrated services routers.

The Liebert IP Telephony Availability System creates acomprehensive protection environment that includes:

• Power protection—Data-center-quality powerprotection is provided through the Liebert GXT2, acompact, rack-mountable, double-conversion online UPSin sizes ranging from 500 to 6000 VA. Additional run timeis easily added with external battery cabinets, allowingthe IP Telephony Availability System to deliver four ormore hours of battery power. Additionally, Liebert UPSsuse a unique and safe approach to signal a low-batterycondition to routers for graceful shutdowns. Ciscoengineers have tested and approved the interfacebetween a Liebert UPS and its routers. This interface isdocumented in the Liebert UPS and Cisco Unity ExpressShutdown Application Note published by Cisco. LiebertUPSs signal a low-battery condition to the router in a waythat eliminates the possibility that a surge from the UPSpower supply could damage the router.

• Power path redundancy—The Liebert IP TelephonyAvailability System includes an external UPS bypass,which enables power to be routed around the UPSduring UPS maintenance, an essential requirement of any

high-availability system. The rack-mount Liebert PowerOutput Distribution (POD) system provides maintenancebypass capability and power output distribution in twounits of rack space.

• Remote monitoring and management—SimpleNetwork Management Protocol (SNMP) and Web-management communications capabilities are built intothe Liebert IP Telephony Availability System through aLiebert OpenComms Web card housed within the UPS. Itprovides remote monitoring and communications,including the ability to reboot the protected equipmentby cycling UPS power. Remote monitoring ofenvironmental conditions is available through LiebertOpenComms EM, which monitors temperature andhumidity.

• Physical security—All of the components of the LiebertIP Telephony Availability System are mounted in alockable Liebert Foundation wall-mount or freestandingenclosure to prevent unauthorized access to IPtelephony equipment.

• Rapid-response maintenance and support—Liebertproducts are backed by one of the industry’s bestwarranties and supported by a network of local Liebertrepresentatives and a global service organization. Thisnetwork helps to ensure a rapid response to customerneeds for service and support required for high-availability systems.

Racks and Enclosures

The Liebert Foundation is an adaptable enclosure system thatcan be configured to meet the needs of virtually any rack-mountable computer system. The Foundation Series cansupport integrated power protection, cooling, and monitoring tocreate a complete self-contained “mini–computer room” toprotect sensitive electronics outside the data center.

UPS systems—Liebert offers a full range of UPS and relatedsystems with capacities from 350 VA to 1000 kVA to meet thepower protection requirements of any application. Liebert UPSsystems include:

Power distribution—Liebert UPS systems are supported bythe Liebert MP family of power distribution solutions, whichincludes rack and room-scale power distribution and switchingsolutions that together provide critical power managementfrom the point at which power enters a facility to the point atwhich it is consumed.

Liebert MP Advanced power strips deliver strip-levelmonitoring of volts, amps, and watts, as well as remote on/offcontrol of individual receptacles to provide remote rebootcapability and other advanced power managementcapabilities. They are available in one-unit rack-mount andzero-unit vertical-mount configurations.

Mission-Critical Cooling

Liebert mission-critical cooling systems provide the precise,year-round temperature and humidity control required bysensitive electronics.
