Featuring Neil Fordham – tenor

Carmel Laverick – soprano Philip Robinson – pianist

Join us for a trip down the streets of a Lancashire mill town, joining Cissie in her journey from mill worker to mother, with music and laughter never far

away. We see a glimpse of Cissie’s dreams, a land of ‘might have been’, and share her love and fears for her children as she sees a second world war break out. The songs of Ivor Novello have a special charm and everlasting appeal. For women like Cissie they brought beauty, innocence and romance to some

of the dark and dismal days during the first half of the twentieth century. From ‘Keep the home fires burning’ to ‘We’ll gather lilacs’ they form an

extraordinary soundtrack to Cissie’s ‘ordinary’ life.

Doors open at 7.45pm, bring your own wine,

soft drinks and nibbles provided.
